"Network problems with WiFi PCI Card" on by jeandufour
Pros: Design and Price
Cons: Behavior with a wifi card
Summary: We encounter problems in 12 Dimension 8400 after inserting a PCI WiFi card in each (8 Belkin and 4 Linksys cards).
The PCs freeze at least once a day, so they must be powered off then on, or the wireless network is frequently lost.
The problems seem to appear only with Dell because have more than 20 other non-Dell PCs working fine with a WiFi card.
The problem is solved only when the WiFi card is removed off the machine...
The card doesn't cause any trouble when inserted in another non-dell PC. -

"Great system - awesome components" on by turnerman
Pros: Harware is top-notch for it's class
Cons: Reloading can be a real PAIN
Summary: I've owned this system for approximately 3 years now without a single problem. Also upgraded it to 1GB of RAM. Until my recent purchase of another system, it was my daily use system.
Pros: Applications ran great, but noticed it would bog when using Photoshop CS2 or Vegas Video. At the time, this system was one of the best available and did everything well. No overheating problems and the video card played every game I loaded. The supplied video card may seem cheap, but don't be fooled - it's one of the best available in its class and will do almost anything you ask.
Cons: If you have to reload XP on this system, getting the device drivers to load is not fun. The provided resource and driver CDs claims to have everything you need, but found myself using another computer do download the chipset drivers so that XP will properly recognize the other system devices and peripherals. If you never reload your system, no worries. -
"An excellent PC with minor flaws" on by shenanigan87
Pros: Powerful, reliable and fairly quiet system with a great audio setup
Cons: Limited upgrade options, case may start vibrating
Summary: I've had this PC for over two years, using it rather intensely, and I must admit that I had one serious problem with it (XP commited suicide), but was able to solve it without data loss. Other than that, this machine ran smoothly all the time, especially after I reinstalled Windows with my own preferences. It boots really fast (under 40secs), programs respond quickly, games ran smoothly after upgrading the videocard. What I really liked was the fact that the harddrives were uncoupled from the case through rubber parts between the drive mounts and the screws holding it, as was the main system/CPU fan. The machine may get a bit louder under load, but is by no means annoying. While never letting me down during all its usegae, there are some annoying drawbacks, such as the downward facing USB ports/headphone jack, and the fact that you can't install standard ATX power supplies, meaning that more powerful graphics solutions can't be used with this case unless you cut extra holes in the back. Apart from that, the combination of an internal aluminium and external plastic enclosure give the case rather bad vibration properties. Though the fan the the hdds are uncoupled from it, the case often made annoying vibrating and clattering sounds, that may be solved with by occasionally slapping it, but could be avoided by DELL.
All in all, a really kickass PC that has never missed a beat and even had a 5.1 speaker system included to rock the house! -
"Excellent Price for this PC" on by locohuge
Pros: Lots of features, upgradable for future Technology
Cons: The case is old and ugly, no memory card reader
Summary: Overall this PC is awesome, I had this PC for almost two years and I haven't had any issues with it, Great Price for all I got on it, 3.2Ghz 1GB-Ram, 160gb-HD, 16x DL-DVD-CD-RW, 19in Flat Panel Display, Speakers and Subwoofers, Two Firewire Ports and a nice Warranty to last for at least four years,
the only thing that I did not like about this Computer is that ugly case, with front USB port facing down instead of forward, that case is old, besides that nice machine,

I bought mine almost three years ago and I'm very pleased with the overall performance of this computer, my is built with 1GB of Ram and 160GB HD, and the price I paid was also a good deal, lots of space to upgrade this baby, a little bit noisy with the 1GB Ram so I upgraded to 2GB and problem resolved, I'm always running a lot of Applications.
