Pros It's small, so you can put it just about anywhere, it's fast and reliable. It's got MOST of the high tech goodies that 90 percent of desktop owners will need. There is no reason to buy a more expensive computer, the 531s will do what you want.
Cons VISTA.........I put XP on it and it acts like a totally different animal, it went from a (prospectively) FAST HOUSE CAT, to a CHEETAH ON CRACK.......
Summary Bottom line, is IF this computer is not doing what you want?? YOUR doing something wrong. I am 100 percent sure that it is EVERYTHING a common computer user will ever need, it's plenty fast, it's quiet, and it's reliable (of course it's a DELL). I am MORE on the techie side, and I have many techy gadget's and I DO have a dedicated GAMING RIG, but for 99 percent of everything else I do, this computer is plenty and more then enough for what anyone will do with it.......
Pros This review is wrong;
Mine has 128MB Graphics Card and was only 400 dollars;
100 dollars cheaper than an emachine;
And Dell's last forever;
Unlinke the crappy emachines that breaks down after 1 year of use;
Cons None at all;
Summary Dell's last forever;
I would tell all my friends and family to buy one;
My other Dell is over 10 years old and it still runs to this day
"Best System Ever!"on by prudhvikr
Pros Nice Processor ( AMD x2 with Virtualization Enabled)
SATA and RAID enabled Bios.
Cons None that i know of
Summary I think this is the best system i have ever bought.
I ran almost all major Operating Systems on it. Be it Windows Xp, Vista, 7, Linux, FreeBSD,NetBSD,OpenBSD and OpenSolaris. It performed exceptionally well on all of them.
Pros Came with a 500 gig hardrive and 256 mb ATI Radeon card, 2 gig Ram. AMD Athelon processor. Very fast and quiet. Got it back in March at Bureau En Gros and haven't had any problems. Slid door hides the 4 extra USB ports.
Cons Would have liked the DVD to be lightscribe and when the DVD tray opens, it covers the button to close it.
Pros The small size is a plus for my desktop. The Dell build quality, 2g of ram, XP Home OS, Sempron processor, and 160 gig hard drive were perfect for what I needed. Mine came refurbished with a 3 year in-home warranty, and shipping for less than $420
Cons The customer service is dreadful. The agents don't have much knowledge of the product, and don't know how it's configured. They can barely speak or understand English, and don't seem to be well trained...but at least they try to be polite.
Summary Phone reps in India or Bangladesh apologize for everything from cancer to diaper rash in an effort to cover for the fact that they are clueless in general, and desperately ill trained in the product configuration. Dell, as well as many other American companies have lost sight of the fact that saving money by outsourcing the customer service is actually going to cost them customers through frustration. Who needs the agravation? Simply pathetic.
