"Be Very Careful. You may not get what you order!!!"

    by sj295584 on February 11, 2007

Pros: Decent Hardware for the price

Cons: Bottom of the barrel customer service. Dell refused to provide a Vista Upgrade that was listed on the bill of sale.

Summary: I purchased a system off the Dell Outlet Store about 2 weeks ago. I understood the system was "scratch and dent", but they said that the functionality would not be affected and I was OK with some blemishes. Within the system details, it stated that the computer came with XP and would receive an upgrade to Vista. When I called Dell to retrieve my upgrade, they stated it would be ready on their website in 2 days. 3 days later, I enter my system ID and the website still said I was not eligible. I called Dell back and they now changed their story and said my system was NOT eligible. At this time, I informed them that I had a copy of the order that showed that Vista was included in the overall order. They requested a copy of it and I promptly forwarded it to them. After reviewing it, Dell re-stated that my system is still not eligible. I have sent emails to Dell's Issue Resolution Dept. with no response. I continue to call them and I continue to reach a customer service center that does not have the ability or possibly the authority to send out a mouse pad much less real customer service issues.

Dell has just gone from hero to zero in my book.
    Updated
After much time spent with Dell Customer Service, they finally sent me a copy of Vista Home Version. I appreciate Dell sending me the software, but based on my experience and others, I will not be installing this software anytime in the near future. It is collecting dust on my mantle as we speak.

What exactly is your problem? You complain about not getting it then you get the software and then you won't install it. And you don't explain why (not that anyone cares at this point).

Negative posts like this only cause vendors huge problems. And in your case it sounds like you're the one with the problem not Dell.

You should be VERY happy that you can't get VISTA! My system came with it and it sucks!! A down grade to XP pro would realy be an upgrade over VISTA.
