"So far, so good"
Pros: no lags running 4-5 windows in multiple tabs, listening to radio and downloading AVG free!
Cons: wonder how fast it would be with XP
Summary: It wasn't until I read CNET's review here that I started having any doubts, since this emachine is running perfectly without any hiccups. Then I noticed that in the performance reviews with your other selected "budget" computers, you used the basic config on EMachine 5234, while comparing it unfavorably to the Inspiron 531 which has a $150 graphics card upgrade, $75 processor upgrade, upgrade to Vista premium - totalling out at $729 even with Dell's $100 holiday discount and free shipping!
Well, I paid $337 for the EMachine 5234 after the $185 in Office Depot rebates, more than half what I would have paid to get the Dell which you upgraded to the max to beat EMachine in your testing. And I'll bet the EMachine can beat the Dell 531 in its basic configuration which is $429 after $100 discount, free shipping and tax. Plus I'm still smarting after helping my Dad order a Dell 531s and having it not work from Day 1 (He sent it back and got an HP).
