"Excellent Budget PC"4.0 starson by mkaraca
Pros: Cheap, powerful, user friendly
Cons: Lack of firewire ports, preinstalled with some adware!
Summary: I just bought this PC to replace an eMachines T2200 I have been using over three years with no problems. It is a decently configured computer with more than adequete performance.
Two things surprised me, however. One, the lack of Firewire ports which I became quite fond of with my three year old T2200 (USB 2 may have better transfer speeds than firewire but many digital video cameras out there will only place nicely with firewire and not with USB.) And two, Windows Defender detected WinDir in factory installed configuration, which is Adware. Also I had to uninstall something called "Browser Redirector" from Add/Remove programs.
I plan to get a TV card and a video card (eMachines reccomends ATI X550 PCI Express 256 MB DDR2) to compliment the Windows Media Center Edition but honestly, the 300 Watt power supply sort of scares me. Manufacturers of video cards in this category recommend a power supply of at least 300 Watts and I don't want to blow up my new computer.
All in all, this sub $400 (after rebates) PC delivers more than expected.
