"At 750 (Fry's until the 11th of August) not a bad rig"
on by rousta_boutPros Replacing an HP 410t that cost about 640 a year ago. Better chip (faster clock, plus hyperthreading available), much better video card.
Cons The case. geh. I've already yanked off some of the more embarrassing bits.
The upthrust USB and SD card slots are a particular problem, though. I had not planned to mount it
lip up like that and don't find the placement convenient. I've taken off tSummary At a grand, probably too expensive. At 750, this is a nice deal - modern chip, great virtualization platform, nice high-end video card (may swap it with my girlfriend's box, so her kid can have the fun of a higher-end card than she has now.)

"Fast, lots of memory, quiet and looks great!"
on by DAVE_NYCPros Completely Flawless
Cons Blue lights would have been cooler or perhaps a color selector. But, no big deal.
Summary A great multipurpose PC. Too bad it's discontinued (Acer is phasing out the Gateway name). Plus I'm glad I have Windows 7. Because Windows 8 stinks for desktops. Keep Windows 8 on smartphones where it belongs.

"This is my best computer experience from the box to use"
on by mwzephyrPros Everything...
Cons It could have blue lights instead of red~ my favorite color...
Summary Best value for the money.
Totally awesome! -
"Easy buy at Tiger Direct."
on by cgomezPros I like the idea that it has plenty of storage and that I can harvest my old hard drives and install them.
Cons So far none, everything works and it should; it is a new computer.
Summary A bit too expensive 849.00, but if it last it could be a good buy. I went with Gateway because most of their products hold up well.It did take a while to install all the software I had at least 3 hours. Had to download many drivers, but that has always bee the case with most PCs. The front loading hard drive case is flimsy but it worked. I had to youtube for instructions, which made it very simple. Other than that, no problems yet.

"Lots of Problems"
on by philkonPros When it works, it works well.
Cons LOTS of minor problems. DVD burning failed 33%. Using multiple external HDD = numerous problems. The easy-swap bays often do not read. No manuals included and none online for this model. Asking for help was declined unless I paid $99 per question.
Summary I have returned this computer to gateway for repairs 5 times between July and November. The repair people were friendly, but could often not duplicate problems on the first attempt.
For this price, this computer had had too many problems. The lack of support of precise manuals was extremely frustrating.
I would not recommend getting this computer.
