"Great Value - Weak Video"
Pros: I did a lot of research looking for a gaming computer at a decent price. Although not a gaming computer, this has a great CPU, Memory, and HD space for relatively little $$.
Cons: Video card, power supply, wireless card, limited expansion due to the case
Summary: I spent a lot of time doing research on gaming systems. Bottom line is that this is not a gaming system but is a great value as it has a extremely fast CPU and more memory than most $2k+ systems. The downside is the video card. I replaced the existing card with a Nvidia 8800GTS. This required a couple of things - 1. I had to put in a new power supply. I put in the Rocketfish 700w unit. I had never done this before but it was actually very easy. 2. I had to disconnect the front 1394 port as the card would not fit in the PCI slot with the 1394 line in the way. Not a big deal as there is another 1394 port on the back. My windows vista video rating went from 3.3 to 5.9 and the machine runs great and not that hot. The wireless card was worthless as it could not pickup my network. I put in a wireless USB adapter and it works great.
All in all I have about $1,500 in the machine and it is comperable to a $2500+ system.

I am also considering the HP and wanted to query a few concerns. Did you try hooking up the PC to your HDTV with the 8400 Geforce 256mb Video card that the PC came with? Seems you have upgraded your powersupply and everything, I am not really a gamer but want a good performing HD card since I plan to connect it to my HDTV. Im thinking the 8400 will do the trick. If i do upgrade the powersupply and video card to a 8800GTS or a 8800GTX, I am concerned about over heating. How is your PC handling the ventilation?
thanks!
