Review: i went from a hp 7700 series media center running win xp. got this one as a replacement for one of my systems which had memory errors. set them up side by side and to bootup this machine i had time to boot up my old system, turn it off and boot it up again before this ... piece of %$#^ came up and was usable. .. new from the box this is slower than a cheaper media center that is 3 yrs old and has multiple applications running at startup.
the applications remind me of my mac. has microsoft sank so low that they have to copy others instead of coming up with a few new ideas for applications and their execution.
for those getting a vista -- notice - you do not own it - you only lease it.. unlike the xp agreement and other operating systems. this allows microsoft to deciede what you can and cannot do on it. be sure to check out the defender program within vista. friend or foe ? i havent decieded yet but it has already attempted to delete several programs it did not like. i am assuming this is part of the reason the system is so slow but i am unable so far to remove the program or stop it or turn it off.
stay with xp if you dont have to get a new computer .. or better off go buy a xp before they are not available anymore. hp has already stopped offering them except to businesses.
