"Unfortunately, I had a great deal of trouble with this one."0.5 starson by goldencoast
Pros: inexpensive. does a lot. small. light. quiet.
Cons: after sales technical help is poor. lots of hardware and service problems from Hewlett Packard
Summary: Although this unit appears quite attractive and inexpensive, we found the after sales service from India unacceptable. The technicians in India are nice people I am sure, but their knowledge of computers is problematic - meaning generally poor.
We purchased our computer from Frys Outpost.com. After a few months of light gentle usage the Hard Disk needed to be replaced. We brought it in to Frys retail store, a Hewlett Packard authorized service agency. After 2 weeks in the shop, the technician put the computer back together leaving out a critical thumb screw. The computer needed to be sent to Kentucky HP service center. They sent back up system disks that don't work. The DVD burner doesn't work properly.
In summary, Hewlett Packard had huge quality control problems with the hardware and the after sales service of this unit. The computer has been a great deal more trouble than it is worth, and I would not buy Hewlett Packard products again if I could possibly avoid it. This is my third HP computer purchase in the last 12 years or so.
They all have had serious problems of hardware or software, but this Slimline has the been the worst of the lot. I have finally learned my lesson, and will not buy Hewlett Packard again.
