"dishonest business, imaginary warranty"
Pros: no pros. just a years worth of frustration
Cons: computer comes broken, gets worse with time, and they wont fix it
Summary: ibuypower is the worst computer company i've ever dealt with. my computer was broken when i recieved it, and i tried to return it seven days later. they told me they were sending me a return label, but never sent it. after six months of complaining, they still wouldn't take it back. it wasn't until after i filed a better business bureau complaint that they took it in for repairs. but, they sent it back, still broken, and after a couple days things got worse and the computer wouldn't even turn on. when i got it back, they said i needed to upgrade the ram (yeah, that would cause it to not power on. supid n00bs.) and i had to do that myself, voiding my warranty in the process, they couldn't do it for me. after some more arguing they agreed to take it back for a refund again, but now they have it and they say they're repairing it instead. their reps are rude, particularly steve at extension 147, and brian at extension 141 (who lied to me and said he owns the company, but in fact actually is only a sales manager.) stay away from these guys.

Since I purchased my computer, my experiences with ibuypower have been disappointing to say the least.
I placed the order for my computer on August 22nd, 2005. I selected the 5-10 business days, No Rush and the computer was shipped 12 business days later.
When my computer arrived on September 9th, 2005 it did not work. I plugged in my Viewsonic 191b monitor, my mx510 mouse and my logitech keyboard, powered it up and the system would not let me enter the BIOS setup. When I turned on the computer all I saw was an Asus logo. At 7:30PM I call their tech support number. I am told to leave my number and I should get a call back in a half hour. One hour later I call back and the lady on the phone tells me to wait another half hour, but I'm "next on the list" so a technician should contact me soon. I wait another hour and another. THREE HOURS and some change later Steve calls me.
I explain my situation to him and he instructs me to pop open the case. I do so and he runs down a checklist of things that should be connected to the mobo. Unfortunately, my CD Burner was not connected to a power source, and my hard drive was not connected to my mobo.
I turn my computer back on, and now the motherboard isn't recognizing my x800xl video card. Steve says he'll have ibuypower ship me out a new video card. This is on Friday, September 9th.
I call ibuypower's on site technician the following Monday. I speak with Brian who informs me the reason my video card doesn't work is because a power cable that's supposed to connect to the back of the video card is not plugged in. So Brian has me cut off all the plastic wire holders to find this socket thing that's supposed to connect to my video card. After 15 minutes of not being able to find it, I ask to speak with somebody else. Lee comes on the phone and he informs me that there is NO power cord that connects to my video card. Thanks Brian. I ask Lee to send me a new video card and I also ask for an upgrade. He declines, I accept.
I just received the new video card today, September 15th but they sent me the wrong one. Instead of sending me a sapphire x800xl they sent me a x850 pro which actually performs WORSE on benchmarks. I couldn't believe it, they actually downgraded my video card. So I install the x850 pro into the pci express slot and the mobo is still not recognizing the video card.
So I call up their tech service again and again I have to wait nearly THREE HOURS for them to call me back.
This time the technician informs me that there must be something wrong with my motherboard so he's going to order another motherboard and have a tech come to my house and install it for me. I am certainly not looking forward to this experience. I have enough trouble getting technicians on the phone; actually getting one to my house will take lord only knows how much more time.
It's been nearly a MONTH since I placed the order and I still do not have a functioning computer. The money was taken out of my account 3 days after I placed the order and I have nothing to show for it except a $1700 foot rest.
At this point, I would certainly NOT RECOMMEND any individual do business with this company because of my horrible experience thus far. I am thankful for their 30 day money back guarantee because that appears to be the route I'm going to have to take. Unfortunately, the shipping fees will leave me approx. 120 in the hole.
Oh, on a side note, I thought Steve was an excellent source of knowledge about my comp. He was polite and courteous and explained the inniards of my comp to me.
And here's a link of the benchmarks of x800xl vs x850pro.

I'm searching for a new computer, and based on price vs. performance "IBUYPOWER" is the best choice so far. For me it was the first time I saw the brand so started looking for reviews. Well! My "friend" Abysmal scare me for a moment but after reading all three of his comments the story just fell thru the crack. One comment stated that he did not received anything from the IBUYPOWER for 6 months, and then another comment explained how after two weeks he received another bad PC. Either he is smoking something
or he is all bulls...
Please Mr. Abysmal a little bit of honesty or coherence will help at this moment. -
THE COMPANY SPECIFICALLY HAS A 30 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. MR. SHAOLIN SAID THAT HE RECEIVED THE SYSTEM BROKEN OR DEFECTIVE AND TRIED TO REFUND THE SYSTEM 7 DAYS LATER. WHY IS THE NEXT ENTRY SOMETHING ABOUT TRYING TO REFUND THE SYSTEM 6 MONTHS LATER???? IF THE SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE WHEN HE RECEIVED IT, HOW COULD HE, MORE IMPORTANTLY WHY WOULD HE KEEP IT FOR 6 MONTHS. OBVIOUSLY HE GOT IT OK AND AFTER USING IT FOR 6 MONTHS DECIDED HE WANTED TO RETURN IT FOR A BETTER, MORE UPDATED SYSTEM AND JUST COULDN'T GET IBUYPOWER TO FALL FOR IT. AND IF REPORTING TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU WAS SO EFFECTIVE, WHY DIDN'T HE CONTACT THEM WITHIN THE FIRST 30 DAYS????

3 years ago I purchased a computer from this company that at the time seemed to be top of the line to play games such as Microsoft Flight Simulator. The computer looked impressive, but after I ran it was when my frustrations began. Just like you describe in your case, several things started to fail. For instance the modem broke, so no internet. Even though I got different replacement it just never worked again so I guess the gave me a defective mother board. My flight simulator used to crash all the time. When I decided to upgrade my operating system to windows XP, the computer simply wouldn't do it, errors were appearing all the time, eventually my computer crashed to a point where I could never turned on again. From the point that I bought it to the point it died it was just a little over a year so I couldn't make the warranty effective. All I could think of was, how was I so stupid to blow a thousand bucks like that? I learned my lesson, next thing I bought I HP computer which was even less expensive than the I Power, and is still working fine and smooth. Ibuypower isn't reliable and it is a product that can not be recommended to anybody who value and who work hard to earn his/her money.

Your review made me very tempted to purchase the iBuyPower Value-Pro. It was exactly what I was looking for - a sub-$1000 gaming machine. However, after reading the review, I pretty much decided I'd never buy a computer from this company.
While it's unfair to judge a company by a single review, if you've got only one to go on, you've got to accept it as gospel.
No thanks on an iBuyPower - I'm not going to take a chance on this company. -
I would like cnet to to contact iBuyPower and have some one verify to cnet the validity of their customer service policies. If you review a computer you should also review the dependability of customer service,if delivery is fast and accurate and if they will fix it if they send you a defective PC.
