"terrible computer..."
Pros: It's a computer... sorta
Cons: - Terrible family computer
Summary: Just hated it. I'm not a fan of Dell as it is, and this computer is mainly why. It's these computers that Dell gets a bad name from.
- Became very slow very fast
- Gets very dusty from terrible ventilation so you will need to clean it out very often
- Requires a LOT of maintenance if you want it running full potential for a long time
- ... it's a dell
They have a terrible tech support that routs all calls over to India unless you pay extra. So besides it being very hard to understand them, they didn't know what to do in fairly easy situations. I talked to their head technician and all he said i could do was "wait".
Like i said above, it got slow very fast. It was a family computer for awhile and its low memory space and not much RAM simply made it a hassle.
The hardware starts to fail quickly. After just 2 years of use the CD trays started going bad, as did the USB ports.
Just don't get it. If you inherit it from someone, its not worth the hassle. I have spent countless hours trying to fix this dang thing. And if you are planning on putting Linux on it, trust me... don't! Between the hardware and software conflictions between windows and Linux, its just not worth the time.

I just got one of these computers as a hand-me-down. Added a SATA card, a DVD burner and maxed the RAM at 1 gig. I haven't used it enough to review it's features or lack thereof. But, I did want to reply to the comment regarding Linux. I couldn't get Ubuntu to run, but installed Mandriva 2009 and PCLinuxOS with no problems. Now if I can just figure out how to put in a 2nd hard drive. There appears to be a spot next to the first one for it, but I haven't been able to find a bracket for it.
