Summary As I was searching the internet for my next computer, I had a few thoughts in mind for exactly what I wanted. I wanted a touch screen Windows 8 PC with lots of memory, decent hard drive, blu-ray player, and a tv tuner. I decided to purchase the Dell XPS 2710 since this is the only real ALL IN ONE that had everything I could of ever wanted and more. The Dell had a I7 Processor, Blu Ray Player / DVDRW, TV Tuner, and 2 TB Hard Drive. The price for this machine was very steep at $2,000. After buying this machine and before my two weeks was up, I decided to search the internet to see if anyone was coming out with new models or something even cooler than this. I found that Lenovo was coming out with something that was called a Table PC. The concept of a Table PC is very simple. It is a PC that you can put on your table and play with friends. I was very intrigued. So after reading lots of reviews from many sites on the web, I decided to purchase the Lenovo Horizon PC.
UnBoxing: The Lenovo Horizon PC arrives in a very large box. You cut a few pieces of tape and the System comes out in a very nice black bag which you could use to take your PC with you somewhere. I am not really sure where you would take this monster. It is not a PC or Tablet you could use on a plane. The mouse and keyboard are very stylish but the mouse is a little complicated to figure out. It took me a google search before I could figure out how to put batteries in. You push the little button on the back that looks like a USB Dongle and pull the cover off. Put the batteries in, and then rotate the mouse to turn it on. Once on, Everything works great.
Turning on the PC: After all of the Windows 8 setup, Everything comes up very quickly. I updated all the APPS, and as soon as I went into the Desktop Mode on Windows 8 - Aura needed to update. Aura update took about 5 minutes and everything was good to go.
Aura Interface: Once I laid down the PC the Aura interface came up. It gave me a quick tutorial on how to use it. Once into it, I clicked on games and brought up Roulette. The roulette game has the real feel of a casino. Your 27" monitor is taken over by the game. You are allowed 60 or 90 seconds to put your chips on the table and once ready, You can skip the remaining time and spin the wheel. After playing Roulette, I played some Texas Hold'Em, This game is my favorite in the Aura interface. It is a blast to play with friends and family. You can play with 4 people, and it is just like the real thing. After about 60 minutes of playing with friends, I was down over $3,000 to computer and my friend was down about a $1,000. Thank goodness it wasn't real money. After playing Texas Hold'em, We decided it was time to take out some of the included accessories with the system and give them a try. First game we played was Air Hockey. This was the game everyone was talking about. We placed our paddles on the screen, and we started the game. It is a fun game but needs some work / updates. I think we each scored 3 or 4 goals on ourselves. The paddle and the bubble on the screen which is your paddle doesn't always move together. You are spending time trying to get your paddle / bubble back so you can go again. Overall, I would give this game 3 out of 5 stars. Once the paddle movement is updated and fixed this game will rock and be absolute blast. The next game we played was Lenovo Tycoon. It is an updated version of Monopoly (You buy propertys and build things). I was excited to play this game since I thought I could use the dice that was shipped with my system. I was wrong. The dice must be charged before being used and even after a hour charge, they were still not ready. I really wish Lenovo would of put something in the box or something to tell me this. The game is OK but gets old really fast. The characters repeat the same lines over and over again. Even if the dice worked for rolling, This game only gets a 2 out of 5. It kept my friend and I entertained for about 20 minutes. Once we got done with Lenovo Tycoon and since the dice didn't work, We decided to try out the rest of the games included. King of Opera is a very interesting game which is based on stupidity but could be awesome if you had 4 friends playing this game. The concept is very easy, Knock your friends of the stage and once you get the spotlight, Don't get knocked off the stage. The more notes you the sing, the higher the score. I give this game 3 out of 5 stars. If you have 4 friends playing this game and computer players, It could easily achieve 5 stars. Next game played was Drawing Race 2, This game is a lot of fun and makes you really think. You draw a line around the race track and your car follows the line, and you try to beat everyone else. A very fun game with lots of tracks. This game gets 4 out of 5 stars. The final game played was Raiding Company (Joysticks Used). We put the joysticks down on the screen and it just happened that we put them on the trigger so we were firing like crazy. After figuring out that we put the joysticks on the wrong spot, We moved it over and started playing the game. The game is fun and I am hoping that they come out with a few more games that use the joystick. We did have a problem getting the joystick to stay stuck to the screen but I am sure it will get better over time once we figure out the trick to keep them stuck on the screen. This game gets 3 out of 5 stars. After playing all the games in Aura except monopoly, my favorite was Texas Hold Em since it is just like the real thing.
After leaving Aura interface and going back to Windows, My friend and I got addicted to Shuffle Board. It is a free game available through the game app store and is from XBOX. This game is so much and fun. We spent over 3 hours playing this game and had an absolute blast. This is a must to download to use the lenovo horizon touchscreen to its full extent.
Overall, The Lenovo Horizon is an awesome computer with only a few flaws. The biggest flaw being only 1 free USB port if you have the dongle plugged in for the wireless keyboard and mouse. The 2nd flaw or con is no built in TV Card. This would be awesome if they would or could put in a tv card. This would give you the option of taking this outside and watching tv on the deck while enjoying great weather. The 3rd flaw is no optical drive. Windows 8 is trying to get rid of this but it is always nice to have one just in case you need to burn something. The real advantage or positive is the ability to move it and play on it for 2 hours without it being plugged in. Once the system tells you that it has 10% battery life left, Plug it in. The computer will go into sleep mode shortly after that message. If you are looking for an ALL IN ONE with a few extra bells and whistles which will be tons of fun for the whole family then is the computer for you. Great Job Lenovo.
