    "You can build it!"

by evilsoul on August 25, 2005

Pros: No need to spend time

Cons: You can build something VERY close to this yourself.

Summary: OPC charges a premium for its "HyperClocking", but even though they can racket the CPU up to 3.0 GHZ it doesn't mean you can't. All it takes is some know how and water cooling Also, you can buy the 7800GTX cards already OCed and just boost them some more with software. Then, add watercooling and you get the same level of performance with even less noise and pay according to a NewEgg, where I tested this out, about $3500 with the exact same default configuration as OPC has for the Torque except for the water cooling. So, to me its a pointless waste of $1500 just because people are too scared or lazy to build it themselves. This system is for those who don't care about wasting money aka the rich.

How about you all stop ******** about the computer! It's pretty obvious your all just pissed off by the fact that somewhere in the world there is a person with a computer like this and that person isn't you. Oh wait I think I forgot something! If you think this sucks ass because it is single core, go look at the Gemini.SLI! Its the same, EXCEPT THE PROSCESSORS ARE DUAL CORE! Also, your all forgeting alot about that $1500 (Which I checked myself on a different OverdrivePC Configuration, and it is acutally only $1000). Part of that money goes to things like lining the case, putting cork behind the motherboard, adding two fans to the sides, using rubber grommets on every screw, and covering all the sharp edges inside and outside of the case with rubber. Another part of that money goes to pay for the service of having your computer assembled (which, for all you dipshits, is done by a person) which, I might add, is done very well. Yet another part goes to your warranty. I know I have seen warranties for computers this expensive at about 200 a year ,althogh i'll admit that's a bit high.

Has their been an article written on how to begin with this?

You think you can OC as bad as these bad boys are? Bring it! I'm sure OPC is ready for the challenge. Sure, rich people throw away money, but OPC doesn't throw away your money. People want a warranty, a 100% yes we will replace the part if it breaks. Can Newegg do that? What happens when you OC your '57 a little too much? Who covers it? Your wallet. If you can build a PC worthy of being compared to a OPC: What the he!! are you doing writing a review? Go start your own computer company!

What people often forget is that your top of the line computer is only top of the line for a month. Learning to build it yourself and getting comfortable with getting parts in and out of your computer is the only way that your computer stays cutting edge for more than a month. And if you can do that, than save yourself $2k and just do it yourself. If you can't, chances are you have no clue how to even use that 5k+ computer in the first place.

Most everyone here seems to have a problem with building a PC themselves. It's not rocket science kids. I'm sixteen years old and have already built three gaming PCs. Why would you spend an extra 1500 dollars to have someone assemble a PC? And overclocking? That's childs play. It's sooooo easy why wouldnt you do it?

If they say this computer is the best for gaming, then what do you call my computer? Next Generation? I heard AMD FX 57 runs great on gaming but is lame on multi-tasking. Why would people want to waste 1100 dollars on a AMD FX 57 when it's not even dual-core.

Overdrive PC Torque SLI try to BEAT THAT!!!! You people shouldn't lie to newbs and say that the Overdrive PC Torque SLI is the best for gaming. People demand SERVICE and SATISFACTION!!!

The truth is that for $5000 almost anyone has the ability to buy enough components from tigerdirect.com to build 3 systems comparable in performance to this 1 overpriced system. "Comparable" shall be defined here as: so close in performance to eachother that only a benchmarking test can tell the difference. I have built 4 PC's this year that you would never know performed any different that this way overpriced model. I would personally be ashamed to tell anyone that I spent $5000 on a PC that will be yesterday's technology in 1.5 to 2 years time....and yes, PC's really are that easy to build...every component basically plugs into its own unique little spot on the motherboard...trust me when I say that assembling an plastic toy at x-mas is far more complex than slapping a barebones PC kit together...Do it yourself and anyone who so desires can have a lightning fast PC for $800 to $1500 as opposed to buying one from "vendor X" for $3000 to $5000 ...and "vendor X" almost never provides you with the CD's containing software that you just got ripped off for...ie motherboard bios and drivers...no home PC is worth $5000 unless it does your laundry and washes your dishes as well as your high end internet gaming

Just because you can fish newegg for some parts prices does NOT mean you have anything like the skill or knowledge needed to create something truly comparable to an OPC.

Like I tell all the rest of the self-presumed "experts" at overclocking... if you really CAN do it, build one and submit it to OPC as a resume, I'm betting they'd LOVE to hire you since they're experiencing explosive growth and folks who really DO have the knowledge and experience are hard to find...

If your really that hard working to make such a product that will eventually break down WAY FASTER then a more expensive machine... your obviously either poor or don't really understand computers... cause when you add the water cooling it isn't gonna be less noise... it'll create more noise :S OPC Forever

I own an OPC torque SLI. I cant build it like OPC,im not rich. I learned valuable lessons in my lifetime. Theres a time to do-it yourself and theres a time to let someone else do it for you. Trust me here folks this time let OPC do it for you!!! Your review is way off evilsoul! My OPC continues to bring a smile to my face, worth every cent!!! Unless your a seasoned pro at PC building, dont try this yourself. You will not regret paying the extra money to let an expert handle it for you. This machine annihilated other major pc builders top brands that cost even more. So your actually getting a great deal and a faster machine.{i.e} MORE BANG FOR THE BUCK!!!!
