"Mis-Leading"
Pros: ???????????????????
Cons: Everything, Everything
Summary: Not only will you have problems getting Blu-Ray to play on the PC, but they claim this PC is HDCP compliant. Well this is not true. There is not currently a HDCP compliant card readily available for purchase period. The GPU is HDCP ready by nVidia, but the board is not HDCP compliant. So there for when you hook this beast up to a, say, 57" samsung lcd tv, it completely overscans, and will not run 1980x1080 resolution, so therefore is doesn't run the Blu-Ray disc either. So do not waste your time and money on this pile until it is truly HDCP compliant, so it can serve a purpose as a true media center pc, that will have no problems integrating with a large screen tv.

As the reviewer said, this is "a first-of-its-kind system." I (as an *early adopter*) bought one so I could burn Blu-ray discs. It works. We could end it there.
I also thought it would be nice to play commercial Blu-ray titles on this system--you know, BD titles are multiplying in availability and increasingly promoted by the studios: by now have you heard "get it now on DVD or Blu-ray" TV commercials?
Guess what? This works too. I repeat: "a first-of-its-kind system." I had no trouble playing BDs on my 42" LCD using a DVI cable out of the rear [get this: one of the two the video outs is HDCP compliant] jack on the back of this Vaio. I used a DVI to HDMI adapter to achieve the interfacing into my HDTV. There was no mystery around that, but I made sure I understood this before I put my money down.
Mind you, I am an early adopter but my experience so far has been better than hoped for. So to all the Blu-ray naysayers: how many of you are just threatened by Blu-ray 'cause you have a vested interest in seeing HD-DVD succeed???
I am really looking forward to a couple things:
- Playstation 3 launch in Novemer '06-- to see Blu-ray hit consumer devices.
- Apple's first Blu-ray product(s).
I have no doubt there will be some major eyebrows raising after these things come to pass.
For now--can someone please show me how to burn to HD-DVD... Furthermore, why should I ever want to, when I can already burn to the superior / more capacious Blu-ray format on this Vaio right here... -
I have been waiting for the RC-320P model to come to the stores so that I can see it. I'm so glad to hear how bad this computer is maybe now I can sleep tonite. There was a computer on ebay that has Intel P4, 670 - 3.80GHz CPU and a massive 750GB of hard drive space plus so more stuff. But the computer is on ebay and I'm not sure if I can try anybody on ebay he has 100% postive feedback so I don't know what to do now that I know not to buy sony's newest computers. Can someone help me decide what to do. Thank you,Maria
