"2 Tragic flaws"
Pros: Amazing system overall - perfect for the livingroom if not for the 2 flaws that render it useless
Cons: Absurd "sleep' feature and terrible keyboard
Summary: It pains me to rate this systm so low - but the truth is that no one should purchase this system. It is an enormous letdown and for the price there should be no letdowns. This is 2 steps shy of being the perfect livingroom entertainment pc, but the downside has me seriously considering returnig it while I can. On the good side - silent running, great selection of inputs and outputs and the bluray player make this a dream come true. Two features ruin this. The first (and I'm hoping it is fixable) is the miserable keyboard. I have a top end logitec bluetooth keyboard to replace it with, but I can't find the drives to allow me to make it compatible. I think this is a Vista issue, but regardless for the price, the keyboard should be top of the line and instead it is a terible frustration. As I typed this write up I actually had to turn the keyboard on and off 5 times to get it to reconnect with the computer. I'm about ready to throw it agains the wall.
The second, and more important flaw, is the 'sleep mode'. Anytime the computer goes into sleep mode, the only way to get the image back on the screen (I'm using a 46 Sony xbr3 as my screen) is to do a hard reboot. This renders the 'sleep mode' competely useless and means that you cannot really use it like a dvr or take advantage of the cable card feature, which defeats the whole purpose of buying this. I'm hoping that they will release some sort of a fix for this problem - if they don't they can try their luck at reselling mine - I have 10 days left before I can return it to the Sony store. If there is not indication that Sony intends to do something about this flaw I will certainly be done with this. It's a shame, because it could be an amazing system.
