    "Best computer for the money anywhere" on by maryc169

    Pros: Amazing quality, rock solid, fast, best tech support

    Cons: I don't think so

    Summary: I've been a Velocity fan for several years, because this company has beautiful products, the latest tech, and really solid support by the the company's own employees. Way better product and overall experience than the mass production guys. If they are Ford and GM of the computer biz, Velocity is BMW.

    Specifically, this system has more power than anything on the market for an unbelievable price. Mine arrive in only about a week, and was flawless out of the box.

    (I wish Cnet would not allow some of the poster to make up things. If a couple of posts come in trashing this product, go do a google search for yourself to see the reviews of this company. The community needs to support the boutiques because the push the bigger guys to innovate.)

    "V/M Service is GREAT" on by Meezer123

    Pros: We have experienced very few problems with their equipment and when I have had an issue it was resolved immediately by someone with an AMERICAN accent who knew exactly how to handle the problem; including free replacement on periferials.

    Cons: None in our experience over years of service.

    Summary: Frequently end-users do not know how to properly explain a problem, or designate in inappropriate area of issue. It is difficult to help if the tech isn't hands-on & has to take the callers' intrepretation of a problem. That is frequently a cause of mis-diagnosis & escalated problems. Another problematic area is the user tweaking & add-ons that conflict. It is vital to keep a log of what you do to your system in order to back-track to the actual issue initiation. Few people realize it only takes a keystroke or one download to corrupt something you didn't realize was co-related.
    Communication skills are all part of customer service -- ON BOTH SIDES.

    "My Z15 Crashes to Bluescreen all the time" on by lhketchum

    Pros: Tech support is pleasant and attempts to be helpful

    Cons: Crashest to Bluescreen frequently.
    Was shipped with defective RAM.
    Replacement RAM was defective.
    Tech support is not available evening or weekends
    Returning this defective PC will cost me a 15% restock fee and presumable shipping both ways.

    Summary: I very much wanted to enjoy this PC. The one shipped to me crashes to bluescreen frequently. I sought support and the support people have been pleasant and have attempted to assist me. They identified my RAM as defective and sent me new RAM. The new RAM is defective. No tech support is available to me evenings or weekends. A return of the PC is going to cost me a 15% restock fee and presumable the shipping both ways. It appears that this is going to be quite an expensive negative first experience with what I understood to be an excellent PC manufacturer reading all the reviews in places like this.
    I hope this review helps others to avoid my mistake with Velocity.

    Update: working with their tech support I finally managed to roll back the overclockinig and it stoppped crashing for one evening.
    Then the whole machine shut down and no longer seems to be getting power.
    I am sending it back now.

    "DON'T BUY DON'T BUY DON'T BUY!!!!!!" on by wolfcoln

    Pros: I really can't thnk of one good thing to say.... ah well it's pretty

    Cons: Unreliable, slow, unreliable service

    Summary: I purchased this computer last November 08 based on the reviews on CNET. I needed a good dependable home computer for work and pleasure.

    FIrst the main cooler went, the bearings froze up and then in May of 09 the hard drive went down. I called on a Wednsday and had the tech tell me over the phone what was a matter. He said I should have a new one in about three days. One week later still no hard dirve, so I call and find out that OOPPPPS I forgot to ship it.

    Now I am really upset. I have had computers since the early 80s. I just replaced my mothers computer that I had given her sometime back around 1999. It was an old IBM Aptiva and though it was slower than heck, it still did work.

    The Velocity was replacing a seven year old gateway that ran fine, I just wanted a bit faster and updated one.
    It is very unfortunate that I cannot give a better review, but facts are facts. I am just waiting for something else to go wrong.
    Any one want to buy a used compture......

    "VM Blows The Competition Away in perfomance and support" on by technolosaur

    Pros: Great pre- and post-sales support; they know what they're doing.

    Cons: ----------

    Summary: Have always been treated as a "real customer", not just a "serial number"; they helped me configure the systems to my needs; didn't try to upsell me; they were professional, courteous and knew their stuff! ...very refreshing nowadays as compared to the other players out there.
