"Terrible Experience"
on by scottetPros Blazing fast PC when it it up.
Cons Support, support and support. And did I mention support.
Summary CNET Ranks this as one of their top 5 performance PCs and the machine is blazing fast even with the lowest end Intel Core i7-920 chimp. I upgraded my system a bit ? RAID 1, better graphics, but not much more. To play it safe, I purchased 7x24 support with on site support.
Issues
1. When it arrived the Raid was not working. It was a bit hard to see, but one of the drives was not plugged into a power source. It took me 20 minutes to wedge it back in. It was very hard to get my hand into a position to do this. All this was done at the direction of Velocity
2. 4 months after purchasing the computer, it died. Fan on the graphics card was making a very load noise. After two hours of trouble shooting either by email or by phone conversation with Velocity, it was decided to ship me a new mother board and power supply. By this time, I had tested each memory card in each slot, removed the video card, disconnected the hard drives and a variations of other tests. Since this was a Sunday, the RMA shipped the next day ground. (I was never given the option to upgrade shipping. 8 days later I had the new equipment. Velocity got me a third party repairman who showed up that same evening (the luck of his availability). He installed all the new equipment and the graphics card I had stored in a zip lock bag. All this got me only a little farther. The fan is not making noise and a small display on the motherboard is actually displaying an ?FF? which Velocity said is normal. But nothing is coming up on my display. He reported back to Velocity and arranged to have a new graphics card shipped (this time I requested overnight shipping at close to $50). Of course this was the end of the day West Coast so it could not ship until the next day. I got the new graphics cards, and even though I strongly hinted I wanted a tech to install it, they pushed me to do saying how easy it is. It was, but I am not a computer tech. Installed the new card. Nothing. Same problem. No display of the system booting, if it is. Now after 12 days, my option is to ship it back to velocity. This is what would have happened if I had not paid for this 7x24 on site support and I would be 12 days ahead. I have now at least two weeks just in shipping time added to the 12 days and 3 to 5 for the repair. I will have been without a system for over a month (Luckily I have a small MacBook I can use to type this). I could overnight it or 2 day express at at $190 and $160 respectively one way. As as I was typing this review they let me know that since it is over 3 months old, I have to pay for shipping the machine to them.
If you live in Virginia where they are, support would be great, but I am on the west coast and 7x24 with onsite support actually is hurting me.

"Velocity Micro on Steroids"
on by technolosaurPros From my research, it looks like that best bang for the buck; I like the performance/dollar value.
Cons I wish I had one now!
Summary If it even comes close to the fps and power ratings CNet posted, this is going to be one helluva muscle rig that going to crush the competition on the performance and price point. Definitely on my Xmas list to buy.
