  • "$2300 for a "mid-range" gaming computer? Over-kill!"
    0.5 stars
    on by tjn83186

Pros: If you want complete overkill and have more money in your pocket then brain cells left in your head....

Cons: Really? 2 560 TI's for a "mid-range build"? One would be more then sufficient for the next 2 years....2 SSD's? Why not just put one 120 GB...this has rip-off written all over.

Summary: Do a little research, compare parts through a few different sites, and build your own gaming computer...you will be much happier and save yourself a lot more money then paying someone $1000 to put all the parts together for you and saving you 4 hours....is it really worth being charged $250/hr for a kid in Korea to make your PC for you...

Considering it is not outlandishly priced compared to the others in its field, I can't see why the remarks about price. People have put their own computers together, and they work, very few would want to risk of frying any of the components in a system like this and considering the cost of the components.

Velocity Micro, seems to have good service even with their tablets. This I assume this is their bread & butter product, so I have little doubt, they are more than happy to give a --lot-- of support for their desktops.

I buy pre-built computers--at less than the tenth of the cost--of these, and I'm happy to get them that way. They do what I need. A dedicated well-heeled gamer or just plain (well-healed) computer user wouldn't mind putting out this money for a computer like this.

You will note, you can't short Legos out?

I completely agree. If you purchase parts from any online vendor (*cough*newegg*cough*) and build the PC yourself (which REALLY isn't hard guys... ever played with Legos? Pretty much the same thing. You just have to be a little more careful), you could build an absolute powerhouse for $2300. This exact same computer if bought in pieces and built by you would probably cost right around what the poster above me said... ~$1300.

A little knowledge goes a long way in the tech realm. Google is your friend (for now)! Use it!
