"Buy At Your Own Risk!"
Pros: The machine they built are "okay"
Cons: Industry worst product support
Summary: The computers built by Velocity-Micro are "okay" although they are no where near the quality you would expect from a custom builder. The wiring is average and they do NOT do anything special as far as setup or optimization as they claim they do. They certainly do not select the best components for your machine.
However, the worst part of a Velocity-Micro experience comes when you need support, and that is more frequent than you might expect. I purchased a machine and things started out badly from the beginning. I had a card reader that would not work (note they left the card reader out of the reviewed machine) and they never could figure out the problem. They blamed it on software and when that didn't work, they shrugged their shoulders. I eventually solved the problem myself.
Then, there was a problem with the machine failing to restart. I called talked to someone, and followed his suggestions for fixing the problem. That didn't work, so I called back. There was no record of my first call! Finally, they sent out a motherboard, but only the bare board. The tech arrived to install it and had no manual, no parts, no cables, etc. Later, they tried to blame the tech for the difficult install, even though it would have gone smoothly if they had sent ALL of the parts. I found this especially amazing since when I returned the sound card the machine came with, they demanded every single part and cable that it came with be sent back to them.
Bottom line: inept builders and lousy support. Stay away from Velocity-Micro!

I purchased a fully loaded Raptor in Feb 2006. I started having some issues - my room power used to trip when I switched on the power. I called Velocity support. I was happy to see that the support is based in US. They were wery helpful and we tried few things. After we could not figure out the problem, Velocity sent me pre-paid UPS label to send the PC back to their workshop. Eventually they figured that the problem was in my power supply and they fixed and returned my PC. The PC was out for about 7 days. I also received a follow up call from Velocity 6 months after the repair to see if the PC is working perfectly. (I have all the email records for this).
Overall the support very satisfactory. The machine built is excellent (I used to build my own gamig PCs, but stopped due to new job).
Hopefully, your PC will work out to be fine. -
I have owned a velocity micro computer for around 1 1/2 years. While owning it i used customer support around 5 or 6 times, all being top notch with no problems. My ram failed and when i called in they had me run some checks before they sent me some new memory. The woman who helped me was nice, helpful, and was an overall wonderful help.
I have never had a better expirence with customer support then i have with velocity micro. And if one day i were to buy a new computer i would no doubt buy from them again. Furthermore i would recommend them to all my friends.
