"Very Disapointed"on by auto55
Pros Once fixed it flies
Cons Poor quality control / service suspect
Summary Delivered about a month ago DOA (would not boot)! After I opened the case I found a ram module unseated. After securing module computer booted and ran but with a host of problems and would not shutdown properly (had to manually shutdown). A tech was dispatched promtly but did not perform the task ordered (total restore) so after he left the same problems existed. I could not afford the down time to ship back to Velocity to rebuild so I had a local tech diagnose and perform a XP clean install at my expense ($150). The machine now performs great although it should have out of the box. I was a loyal Dell customer who THOUGHT he was stepping up to a better class computer but alas I was wrong! Nothing is perfect but when you pay good money ($1,500 for CPU only) and it is DOA and field tech doesn't solve problem I will not purchase from Velocity Micro again!
Pros Can't give you a pro at this time.
Cons We are rating the customer service!
Summary We do not recommend buying this product for customer service reasons. Our product does not work and they are not willing to resolve it without us having to pay to ship it back. We just got the product. It has been faulty since it got here. How is that our responsibility? Not only that, but they began blocking our home telephone number. We tried 4 times. Then we used our cell phone and got right in. Coincidence? I don't think so!
Pros Quiet, fast, great looking case
Cons video card is quick but my old ATI9600 seemed to have better graphics
Summary Very happy with my purchase, well worth the wait. So quiet, is this thing on! Got the open window case, looks great, cool effects. All quality components. 7600GS card is fast but some web fonts & graphics don't look as good as on my old ati 9600. Still, super value for the price.
"Very pleased"on by Jaliska
Pros Fast, Quiet, Inexpensive, Quality parts and support, good buying experience.
Cons Better video cards not available in configurator (although if you called I'm sure they'd put one in)
Summary Extremely pleased with my purchase, I had a slight problem with my computer not booting up into bios but the issue was resolved quickly by a technician over the phone, I was running again in no time. For daily use, this PC is great, I'm able to play my favorite games at high settings, watch movies, and do whatever else extremely quickly. For the price, there is no competition to this system. I'm smoking the bf2142 demo with my setup:
Intel P965 Mobo
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
Corsair 2GB DDR667 memory
EVGA 7600GS 256mb
Sound Blaster Audigy 4
Most of these parts have been upgraded from the stock, and they all seem to be worth the upgrades. I'm running the system on a 20" widescreen monitor I recently purchased at Costco and at 1680x1050 resolution the PC is running fantastic.
"woefully bad"on by johnheer
Pros fast ... when it worked
Cons frequent freezing up; tech support never figured it out; tech support is only available limited hours on weekdays and not on weekends
Summary Wow. What can I say? This was the biggest disappointment I have ever had in a computer. I ordered on 9/3/07, with shipping date estimated to be 9/23/07. It did not arrive until 10/12/07. I should have known then that things would not turn out well.
On the first day, it froze on me while I was surfing the net. Then, it started to freeze up on me during some of the startups. Then, freeze up on EVERY startup. The only thing I could do was power down manually by holding the power button down.
Tech Support was clueless. They shipped me a new ethernet port, thinking there might have been a bad connection. Nope. Still froze.
I returned the computer to them for them to repair. After a week of testing, they said that they could not duplicate the freezing problem. So, they shipped it back to me. Same problem.
Then, they thought it might be a power supply problem. They suggested that I go buy a UPS battery backup (even though my old Dell ran fine without one). So I coughed up $150 on a APC UPS. Still the same problem. I even ran a new electric circuit and installed a new outlet in my wall - just for this computer and UPS.
The power comes into the UPS and then into the machine at about 122 volts. Not exactly abnormal, so even the overclocked processor should be OK. Nope.
Next, they sent me a "modified motherboard" and new heatsink. I had to arrange for a local technician to come to the house and install the new motherboard and heatsink. BTW - the new motherboard looked IDENTICAL to the old one. I'm not sure there was ever any "modification." Well, today is the day after the "repair" and it still freezes.
So, as soon as they tell me what I must do, I am returning this P.O.S. for a refund. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!
