Pros Good power, well constructed, great service
Cons It can't cook for you
Summary If I was told when I was first shopping for a desktop, before discovering VM, that I could get a desktop with a 17" flat screen monitor for $1300 with a 3.0 ghz Pentium 4, 1024 MB RAM, 200 GB hard drive, dual DVD/R+ CD/RW, and a host of other amenities including XP Pro, I would have been pretty excited. VM does an awesome job with construction and customer service (first time I used their email customer service I received a reply within 45 minutes!). If you're looking for a new system beyond $800 I personally think you'd be making a huge mistake not buying from VM. They beat out all the major manufacturers in every regard.
Pros They ship via USPS
Cons System "fries" after 3 months of use...
Summary Pay attention!
Do not under any circumstances buy anything from “Velocity Micro.”
I bought one of their “customized” systems – I got it pretty fast over USPS and hooked it up to the rest of my peripherals – it was working just fine - it lasted JUST THREE MONTHS! The damn thing “fried” itself – probably due to poor workmanship and cheap parts. I called the company and told them what happened; at first they were helpful, but after their attempted “solutions” failed to bring the system back to life they just told me to “go and find someone who can fix it” – what a crock of …! To add injury to insult they refused to honor the warranty – get this: “due to my operating environment being too hot…” so… hot to them is between 82 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit???!!! So that means that no one in the Southern Hemisphere can use their products? Oh wait…. I happen to be in the Northern part of the World… and damn, Alaska is having a heat wave….maybe the “environment is too hot” there too…
Oh geez… maybe I don’t know anything about computers…. I just happen to run an IT department… maybe it was really too hot... what happened to my other 3 computers operating in the same “environment?”
Save yourself the pain and the hassles and the snooty little remarks from people who obviously do not know what customer service, satisfaction and loyalty mean….
Buy SONY computers…I’m extremely happy with my VAIO’s (2 desktops and a laptop) … and they can handle the “harsh” operating environments of “hot-as-hell-the-walls-are-melting!” 82 degrees friggin Farentheit!
"Great Value!"on by xva3000
Pros For $1000 you can configure a fast machine, it's handled allsorts of new games so far, excellent customer service, most parts are retail (vs. oem)
Cons Loud (bought a quiet fan to replace the installed case fan); while the hand wiring allows for maximum airflow, it makes adding your own components a bit tricky (ie dvd drive, case fan, etc.)
Pros Great case, well built, can upgrade it to make it a power house!
Cons Haven't found any yet!
Summary I love this PC, Velocity knows what there doing, thats for sure, you can tell between junk and the real thing and Velocity is the real thing, any questions about this PC, feel free to email me @firstname.lastname@example.org. The best part about Velocity is there customer service, its off the charts.
"A Noisy Rip-Off"on by psychdr
Pros Sounded attractive from reviews and ads
Cons Proved to be a disastrous purchase
Summary I have been told by "customer care" that I am to take a loss of almost $250 when I recently returned a noisy system from Velocity Micro. I ordered the SX-V due to good reviews here and in other publications.
Instead, what I got after 2 weeks was a noisy system with 5 fans. The thing sounded like an air conditioner in my bedroom. The company suggested I ship the whole thing back to them, so that they could fix it. After waiting another 2 weeks, I was told that they could not make it any quieter. They say they do not make any models that are not as loud as this one...They are instead returning some of my money...
Now I am told that I have to pay a 15% restocking fee, not only on the machine but on the service contract I purchased. I am also being charged a $59 shipping fee now, although the company promised "free shipping" when I bought the system. Their customer care is as big of a mess as their machines apparently are. They obviously don't care about satisfying customers, just making their sales.1-5 of 12
