"Great Device for the Price"
Pros: Easy Setup & Operation
Cons: Can't seem to alphabetize playlists, occasionally loses WiFi connection, Somewhat "clugy" server software
Summary: Purchased this for a mere pittance on eBay for use in the BR with my Bose alarm clock.
Very happy with this unit so far. It was easy to configure and operates very well, although it occasionally loses connection with my wireless network (the access point is several rooms away).
The server software is straightforward, but doesn't seem to work very well. Importing existing playlists appears to work, but will only import the first selection in the playlist. Pictures of media (album/CD covers) seem to revert to the first selections the software scanned for everything. Auto-playlist generation works well but needs a good deal of tweaking to get selection sequenced the way you want.
But, hey, I usually listen to this as I fall asleep. For my intended purpose, the MP101 works very well.Updated
I purchased my MP-101 as an alternative to commercial radio through my Bose Wave Radio. Hookup was a breeze, although I was disappointed that the WiFi antenna on the unit can't be removed (for upgrade).
The server-side software is allright, although I wish there was a way to alphabetize playlists - the way they're entered in the software is the way they'll appear on the player display.
It works well and maintains its WiFi connection despite being a pretty fair distance from the WAP.
