Sonos ZonePlayer ZP100

CNET Editors' Take
The ZP100 ZonePlayer expands your Sonos Digital Audio System to another room.
Editors' note: As of August 2008, this product has been replaced by the Sonos ZonePlayer ZP120.
The Sonos ZonePlayer ZP100 is the amplified base station portion of the Sonos Digital Music System. One ZP100 is included with the BU130 system bundle, but additional units, for expanding the wireless music network into more rooms, can be purchased for $500 each. Because it has a built-in amplifier, standard speakers (such as the matching Sonos SP100 ) can be attached directly to the SP100. For more information on the ZonePlayer ZP100, see the full review of the Sonos BU130 Digital Music System.

Cons: It is a bit expensive and they never have any appreciable sales. But the Play3 and the Play5 now make it possible to add a zone for a very competitive price.
Summary: I use my older ZonePlayer100 for hooking up more than one pair of speakers for multiple outdoor areas. The Play3 and Play5 have reduced the cost of zones. I've been adding about a zone a year. The more zones I have the more I enjoy it. Don't need ... Expand full review
"Performance & Sound Quality" By nycadm
Pros: A lot of promise.
Cons: Not great for everyone; Expensive mistake.
Summary: Maybe problems aren't the norm...but my player was a really expensive mistake. Stutters and stops. FAQ solutions don't solve the problem - and they're out of date.
2nd - sound quality is HORRIBLE if you don't use their amplifier - so if you have more ... Expand full review
