"Performance & Sound Quality" on by nycadm
Pros: A lot of promise.
Cons: Not great for everyone; Expensive mistake.
Summary: Maybe problems aren't the norm...but my player was a really expensive mistake. Stutters and stops. FAQ solutions don't solve the problem - and they're out of date.
2nd - sound quality is HORRIBLE if you don't use their amplifier - so if you have more than one set of speakers, you may have to buy additional zoneplayer/amplifier units. They're not cheap at $500 a pop.
I'm still waiting to hear back from Tech Support.
So much potential here - but it's not paying off for me. -
"Great. Does everything you want and need it to do." on by bdboston
Pros: Instant access to all my music: my computer, internet radio, music services (e.g. Rhapsody), iPods, etc. Easy set up. Not cheap but great quality, great features, and great customer service.
Cons: It is a bit expensive and they never have any appreciable sales. But the Play3 and the Play5 now make it possible to add a zone for a very competitive price.
Summary: I use my older ZonePlayer100 for hooking up more than one pair of speakers for multiple outdoor areas. The Play3 and Play5 have reduced the cost of zones. I've been adding about a zone a year. The more zones I have the more I enjoy it. Don't need to pay for a controller any more as they have apps for iPhones and other smart phones, or use a laptop. My ZP100 that I have had for five or six years recently died, but Sonos replaced it for a small cost with no questions asked.

"Wow. The technology is great. Works like a charm." on by info nob
Pros: Setup is easy. Functionality is great.
Cons: Very expensive to setup a 10 room house. Yes, that's a big house but....
Summary: This thing is truly AWESOME and could be the revolution in home audio...except...pricing is way out of line. Let's lower the price to $799 for the starter package and $149 for the controller, $299 for each zone player. Lower the pricing and watch Sonos groove to the top.
