Aiptek GO-HD

"I Like It!" on by tonypariso
Pros: Good Video and Photos
Cons: Takes Time to Learn; Hard to Keep Steady
Summary: When considering this camera I feel you need to consider the value of the camera. For about $200 you get a very easy to carry camera that takes good video and photos. It can easily be placed in your pocket. It takes some time to get used to the controls. I find it to be difficult to take videos that are moving fast. I would not recommend it for sports video unless you used a tripod. All in all I think it's a great value and I use it more than any camera I own.

"Poor! Solid State recording and still a noisy buzz?" on by Shephild63
Pros: Small and very portable. High Def
Cons: Atrocious sound quality. Night Shot mode for photos has no effect — I see no difference from regular mode. Video must be shot in bright sunlight to look decent.
Summary: This camera is terrible. It is so bad that I think the one I received may be defective. I hope that's the case for Aiptek's sake.
I ordered mine from JCPenny. First negative indicator was that the clam shell packaging had already been opened and taped closed. Obviously it had been returned by a previous sucker. After reading some reviews that said this camera was great in low light, I decided to purchase. Even in a lamp lit room at night the videos are extremely dark and details are hard to make out. The LED lights work but the subject must be within three feet to be illuminated.
This camera should have no moving parts other than the zoom lens. Why then is there a constant buzzing sound similar to the motor noise on old cassette decks? This atrocious sound quality alone is a deal breaker.
This Aiptek GO-HD camera is going back today. -

"I love my GO-HD" on by mnorth65
Pros: Compact, portable, easy to use, uses rechargable NP-60 lithium ion battery
Cons: It would be nice to have a 10X zoom and image stabilizer
Summary: I would like to share to others who bought this camcorder and are having problems with video editing from .mov files to other files like .avi, .wmv, etc. Not to worry, I finally found the answer to that after countless days of frustration, all you have to do is download ANY VIDEO CONVERTER 2.5.1 (this is free)

I have Adobe Premier Elements 3.0 and Roxio Media Creater Suite 10 and it works perfectly. Now I am burning all my home videos like crazy. I convert my .mov files to DVD NTSC .mpeg files. -
"A big surprise in a small package" on by booksandcoffee
Pros: Small, easy to use, good quality images, recharges on usb
Cons: quick time means playback is limited
Summary: I actually bought one of these that someone else returned. The sales people at one of the box stores told me to transfer video to my computer I was going to have to buy $40 cables if I wanted the cameras that cost hundreds of dollars. This little thing was much cheaper and came with all the cables and adaptors required. Somewhere in my travels I lost the power/recharger cord but no sweat, it will recharge on my computer of the usb car charger I use for my "personal assistant" gadget. The video is adequate and but I think I'll have to pony up for the software to edit quicktime videos since I don't seem to be savvy enough to convert the formats. The HUGE surprise was how great the video looked on our new HDTV and I have taken numerous stills that I could blow up to 8X10glossies at the photo machine and they look terrific. I do a lot of traveling and need an on the fly recorder that I can stuff in a shirt or jeans pocket. The audio recorder is handy but not very high quality. At this proce you can't have everything. I like sticking with sd cards becasue they are cheap and easy to swap out on the fly. Good entry level all purpose camera for people who want memories not academy awards for cinematography. The price is perfect if you lose things or want to have more than one around.
