"Good camera for the price" on by oragane78
Pros: great zoom, quility is good
Cons: hard to get movie edited
Summary: I like this camera besides the fact that the editing is hard to do becuase of the minidvd format. This is a great camera if you want to take it from the camera to the tv and watch it without editing. I also like the camera feature and the pictures come out very good quility wisse.

"Horrible Still photos, grainy movies" on by gwenhaven
Pros: Lightweight, fits into hand well
Cons: Plugin required to finalize discs, no flash for stills
Summary: I've had this camera for a year and thought perhaps I had a defective model with the horrible quality stills I get from it. I have never had a crisp photo, regardless of settings.
I do appreciate it for the movies, this is a good price for a movie camera, but again the movies are grainy. the lack of an external light is definitely a minus.
I suggest saving your money and paying a little more for a better product. -
"Cheap and cheerful!" on by jacoholic
Pros: CHEAP, ease of use.
Cons: not for a pro or serious videographer
Summary: I bought this camcorder new for under $150.00 bucks. So far I have filmed a wedding, a bahamas vacation, a road trip in southern Mexico and some surfing sessions with good results. Editing was a mess since the formats are not easy to handle on a PC. However I downloaded AVS software that let me convert it to mpg2 and now everything is easy sailing. The video quality is better than expected for the low price. Focusing with low light requires a few toggles on the zoom to get the autofocus working. One year with this camcorder and the only downside is the hassle of miniDVD's. Plasticky built, but with the low price can afford a new one if anything goes wrong.

"Both my Canon camcorders broke down after few months" on by bobolemura
Pros: Small, slick, easy to operate
Cons: Recording unit and main circiut failed after few months; no USB cable
Summary: I owned two Canon camcorders - a ZR60 and now the DC100 - and both failed after a few months. The ZR60's charging unit had to be replaced, then the CCD matrix failed and Canon recalled the models for free repair.
Then we got the DC100, and only after a few months the recording units failed. I brought it to an authorized service as it is still under warranty and they replaced it but then the main circuit did not function properly and they had to order and replace that too. So I was not able to use the camcorder for more than three weeks and missed some valuable moments of my 4-month baby's first meal, etc. -
"This is my first camcorder, but at $200, I say this is a great camera. But not at $300-$400 as I see" on by BooBoo7671
Pros: Great focus, large LCD screen, records to mini-DVD and can play on my computer's DVD drive as is.
Cons: Battery doesn't last as long as I'd like, so get a spare and another charger. Average picture quality, maximum record time per mini-DVD is about an hour
Summary: All in all, I'm happy with my purchase. Just what I was looking for at a decent price.Even tho this is my first camcorder,I'm not easy to please. If you can get this for 250 or less, grab it.
