"A solid performer in most lighting!"
Pros: Picture Quality, larger CCD, Ease of Use
Cons: DVD Editing can be difficult.
Summary: Set mid-way between poorly performing basic consumer models and expensive "enthusiast" and HD camcorders, the DC-22 provides a solid punch! The video quality is significantly better than most other units I tested up to this price point (tape or DVD), and thankfully it lacks the horrific motor noise that plagued Canon's MiniDV camcorders. The larger CCD is a god-send in a sea of marginal quality camcorders churning out undersized 1/6" CCDs. The auto-white balance seems a little off at times and editing MPEG2 video is always challenging. It is very unfortunate that manufacturers have nearly abandoned the MiniDV camcorders for the unfriendly MPEG2 flavors (DVD or HDD).
