Pros I like the option to format disc in video or VR, and the battery last for quite a while, easy to reach all the buttons and overall easy to use.
Cons On occasion you get a blank frame. The video quality hasn't been the best when I put the videos onto my computer.
Summary I lost the1st DVD I recorded due to not knowing how to properly finalize the disc (you have to have the device plugged in or FULLY charged)
Pros It was a reasonably priced camcorder
Cons This product doesn't work as well as Sony camcorders I have had. The images look bad, and I've had to send it in for repair because it wasn't finalizing discs. I'm having the same problem again. I wish I had purchased a Sony.
Pros Easy to use, plenty of manual features, takes stills on sd card
Cons Ocasional blank frames, discs and spare bateries expensive
Summary This is my first camcorder and its "easy" setting got me up and shooting in minutes so I could concentrate on how to take steady shots, learn to pan and zoom nicely, and all the other stuff a snapshot taker needs to learn at first. I've had it for about a month, and have gone on to start learning what the manual features do and how to use them. I don't imagine a experienced videographer would be impressed with this camcorder, but as a beginner in photography, I find that the DC410 was a good choice.
When you record directly to a dvd, you don't NEED a usb connection! Just finalize the disc in the camera, then pop it into the dvd drive on your computer. Then use software to make a dvd-compatible MPEG-2 file to edit and export to a dvd.
The only operational con I have found is when I take a shot longer than 5 seconds or so, the video has a couple of blank frames every so often, maybe when the camera writes to disc. I edit them out, but that causes a stutter.
Pros Good battery life is the only plus.
Cons Cannon's DC 410 is a bad product by design. No USB connectivity and very difficult to use. I bought it to replace my Sony DCR 550. No match to the
Sony, esp which has USB, touch screen and extremely easy to use.
Summary Don't consider DC 410 in your shopping list. Not sure what the designers and marketing at Cannon were thinking.
