MAC: "Hey PC watcha doing over there?"
PC: "I'm downloading pictures from my new Canon camcorder."
MAC: "How do you that?"
PC: "You just hook it up and away it goes!"
MAC: "Oh that must be one of those oddball products that I need third party software to get working."
PC: "By oddball you mean any camcorder, camera, smartphone, pda or MP3 player that does not have an expensive Apple logo on it?"
MAC: "Yeah. I guess that is what I mean."
PC: "Well with all those 3rd party software packages you need, I guess I know what to stuff your stockings with."
MAC: "Yeah. I better make sure I put a second stocking up this year." -
What has Cannon got to do with Mac/Apple problems? Apple is a highly proprietary and a small player in the personal computer world. It is Apple's problems, not Canon or any other vendor for that matter. That's one of the reasons you will NEVER catch me with an Apple Computer. Apple/Mac is a niche market, not main stream, so it makes sense that Canon does not spend millions to develop software for a small group of people like 13craig. Please think a little before you blame someone for Apple's short comings.

I like how people blame the wrong manufacturer. Canon is not responsible for making their products work with mac or any other company. The fact that Mac decides to write all their own software has nothing to do with Canon. I'd be disappointed in the 2000 dollar plus computer that forces you to buy new updates, or worse, a whole new computer (as is the case with AVCHD).

I have a macbook (intel duo core, purchased Oct 2006) with leopard and it works great. I use iMovie and iDVD to edit and burn videos. Worked the moment I plugged it in. My advice is upgrade to the newest OS.
