"Nice little one"
Pros: Size, optical performance, image stabilization
Cons: Low battery life (you can get a better battery though) and paltry included SD card
Summary: Takes nice video and good still photographs. In combination with Apple's iVideo and iDVD you can easily make nice DVDs of your video and photos. I was amazed at how nice my first video DVD was and how easy it was to make.
The included standard battery can last as little as 30 minutes with intensive usage. Will look into getting the optional higher capacity battery. The included SD card is a tiny 16mb - which is good for about 7 photos is all. The camera takes too good of still photos to saddle it with such a tiny card. Just figure the cost of a higher capacity card into the purchase of the camera.
All in all I am very happy with this camera. There is nothing wrong with it that buying a battery or two and a larger SD card can not solve.

Sounds like a great product, but as a MacZombie I have to correct you: it's iMovie, not iVideo

My experience is a bit different -- and perhaps my expectations are too high.
MiniDV Video performance is OK -- nothing to rave about -- and in low light situations I would have expected more from this high-end 4 megapixel handheld. The mini video light is a cute gimmick but exactly that. Beyond 2-3 feet it's nothing but an annoying light in the subject's eye.
Card (AVI) video -- is a complete disappointment. Blurry, dark and low contrast even at the large setting. Careful, if you use this mode, you've lost the opportunity to capture the moment. Useless.
Still Photography -- just plain fiction. I'm using a high speed gigabyte SD card to enable the camera to be set at the very largest file size and super fine. Two major problems: There's a lag between a fully depressed shutter button and the actual exposure. Half way down to focus -- wait for the right instant -- complete pressing the shutter and .. missed the shot -- every single time.
Secondly, the camera doesn't focus properly even in spot focusing mode. And for a 4 megapixel camera, it's blurry by me. And white balance -- forget about using Auto unless you like everything to be the color of a ripe tomato.
If priced at $299.00, I'd say it would be a value. At $1,000.00 I feel completely ripped off.
