"Great camera, great price"
Pros: Small; good video quality, even in low light; good still pictures and optical zoom
Cons: Battery life fairly short
Summary: Looked around at a number of mid-priced digital video cameras and settled on this one. Purchased from CostCo.com for $535, which included Chicago sales tax and express shipping. Later got an automatic refund from CostCo for $50 when they reduced the price on the item--lesson, CostCo rocks. The camera works great. I used it during my wedding weekend and on my honeymoon, both video and stills, and was quite impressed with the ease of use and the picture quality. The review indicates that the video does not look good in low light, but I have to disagree--maybe I was expecting it to be horrible, but I think it's actually quite impressive. Only issue is that the battery life is short--the battery is small, and because (as the review mentions) it's housed under where the LCD screen folds in, you really can't use an expansion battery (not sure if one even exists). Still, you get over an hour of video time, that should be plenty. Also very easy to hook up to a television for instant playback. Note: you need a Firewire port on your computer to transfer video to a computer (you can transfer stills with USB)--maybe this is the case with all video cameras, but I was not aware of that before I bought it. I highly recommend this product.
