"Excellent HD picture quality"3.0 starson by anets
Pros: Excellent picture quality and daylight performance - colors are quite accurately captured.
IAF works very well in typical lighting conditions.
User interface that is easy to use.
Cons: Does not record video at full HD on latest class 10 Sandisk Extreme III SDHC cards even though canon requires "class 4 or higher" SD cards & specifically recommends Sandisk.
Low light performance is average.
Lens cap rattle.
Summary: I recently got a new HFS100 after going back and forth between HFS10 & HFS100. And I more than agree with Lori that S100 is a better buy than paying a premium for 32G internal flash. Overall, I'm quite happy with this camcorder - it delivers excellent quality HD video and captures colors quite accurately. The audio recording quality is also quite good.
Canon website does mislead you into buying SDHC cards that do not work well with this camcorder. They recommend Sandisk cards and require class 4 or higher for HD recording. It works with class 6 cards but not with class 10. I'm guessing this can be fixed in their firmware if their camera I/O can handle the higher throughput ratings of the newer SD cards.
It also requires external power source when connected to a computer via USB. Put that together with the average battery life and you can tell they have some room for improvement in lowering the power consumption.
