"Poor low light performance and no infrared night mode" on by Boceefuss
Pros: Small, 35x zoom
Cons: Terrible resolution & low light setting and no infrared night mode
Summary: I got this camera for the analog input and also for its "night" mode. The low light performance is really grainy and the night mode does not use infrared (unlike the Sony HC28). This means, that in Canon’s night mode, everything is still very dark and focusing is a nightmare. Also if you want to record anything indoors there will be a lot of grain. If you’re looking for something that will only be used outside in the sunlight than this camera is fine. However, I wanted something with a good night recording mode and good low light performance (anything indoor) so I exchanged this for the Sony HC28. Its night mode actually works at night and the low performance is a lot less grainy than the ZR850.

"Great camera for the deaf." on by baldmarc1
Pros: None that out weigh the cons!
Cons: The absolute worst buzzing noise is recorded on audio. It is unbearable and makes all recording absolutely worthless and un-watchable.
Summary: Do not by this camera. If you want it I'll sell you mine.

"This is a bad camera is not worth the price go with a sony camcorder!" on by vilcomvenom
Pros: 2.7" Screen, 35X Optical Zoom, 1000x Digital Zoom, Bright Screen, Built-in Lens cover, Compact design, Alright Fader effects, Battery is very compact
Cons: Bad low-light quality, Viewfinder does not pull out, MiniDV tape is loaded on the bottom, Joystick is cheap and hard to use, Only 320x240 for video resolution, 1 Megapixel doesn't make a difference.
Summary: I don't like it because the video looks pixelated. I looked at a video of where my uncle videotaped it literally around 10-13 years ago and that older camera's video quality looked better than that of this camera. I recommend a Sony Camera for camcorders and Canon for digital cameras. I have enough experience now to tell you that. I also went to two best buys and one circuit city and I acted like I don't know anythng and I will ask them what would you recommend sony or canon for camcorders and they all said Sony. When using the viewfinder you can't use the joystick or any controls. This is a mediocre camera if that.
