Pros Simple to use yet great looking output.
Cons Needs battery level indicator.
Summary This is a great entry-level video camera that combines ease of use with good looking and sounding output. The simplicity of use allows a fledgling filmmaker to concentrate on making films, not twiddling buttons.
Pros easy to take on the go anywhere
Cons no SD card for longer videos
Summary This is a great little video camera for the money. Easy to carry anywhere, and for someone who just wants to capture quick, short videos, its just right. No more downloading videos the long & painful way - just plug it into the computer & you're done. The only down side that I can see is that it doesn't have the option of an SD card. But with 60 mins. of record time, that barely matters.
Pros Light weight, one button, better resolution than I expected
Cons A little more complicated w/ Mac
Summary I have Macs (G5 and laptop) so e-mailed Flip support before I purchased and got quick e-mail w/ clear directions, which I probably wouldn't have needed but felt better having. I have never used a camcorder but within an hr. had a clip on both computers and also uploaded to my blog. Love it!
Pros built in usb
Cons Poor quality, bulky, no optical zoom! No real stills without freezeframing
Summary I don't understand the concept here. Why have a poor quality, not even that cheap, camcorder when virtually every still digital camera does video (much better) these days? Mini DV camcorders are about $30 more and offer superior quality, optical zoom, more storage, are smaller, etc. What's the draw here? I just don't get it.
Pros Compact size, video quality pretty good
Cons Unreliable uploads
Summary I was surprised by the quality of the video that came off of this camera. It was actually pretty good. The problem is that the upload process often froze mid-upload or failed completely. It was so unreliable that I sent it back for a refund. If they are able to fix that problem with future models it would be a great little camera.
I saw on Entertainment Tonight Rosie O'Donnell on her blog saying she wanted to show a video on her blog but couldn't get it on there and she showed a Flip. Funny!
