Freezes up (if you get a bad one)Summary: I received the Hero3 White edition for a Christmas present. It works without any problems. So, I decided to buy another one. This time, I bought the Hero3 Silver edition to have a higher quality still photos. I got home and downloaded the firmware update. The camera would not work after that. The camera would turn on, and then completely lock up. You could not do anything. I had to pull the battery out to turn it off. After playing with the ting for several hours, with no luck, I gave up, and exchanged it. The second one is working fine. I have read other reviews and it would seem that GoPro has a few bug to work out with the Hero3. Buying any of the Hero3's is a crap shoot as to weather or not they will work. If you get a good one, they are great. But if you get a bad one, it will lead to frustration.
I have used the iPhone app with the cameras. It would appear that you can only use the app to control one camera at a time. If you can control more than one, I cannot find out how to do it. I hope that this will be fixed in the future. I would really not want to spend an extra $80 for the remote, when the app is supposed to do the same thing.
Some people complain about GoPro not including a paper version of the instruction manual. I don't know why this is such a problem. I think that most items will go the same way in the future. It saves paper, and most people who buy these are tech savvy enough to download a pdf from a website. And here's an idea... if you want a manual in paper form, you can print it yourself.
