Pros 20x Zoom
Great colour reproduction
High bit rate recording
Nice sharp image
Cons Micro SD slot, it should be a full size SD slot.
Summary I had a look at the GZ-HD300 as I was in the market for a HD camcorder arouend this price. I was impressed with the colour accuracy, sharp detailed image and the fact that the camcorder is nice and compact. I ended up getting the next model up the JVC GZ-HD320 only because it had more capacity. I'll need that when I go overseas. However the image quality on both models are the same, capacity is the only difference. If 60 GB ( 5 Hrs 30 mins at highest quality setting ) is enough then for a little cheaper the GZ-HD300 would be a great choice.

Pros High Quality Bit rate 24Mbs
20x Zoom (The highest in HD) for consumer camcorders.
60GB HDD storage
Cons None so far
Summary High Bit rate of 24 Mbs while some brands are still at 16Mbs.This means better quality especially where details are needed and fast scenes.
I found out than you can connect this camcorder to some extenal HDD's or some external Blu-Ray burners.Best to see their website for more info.
The software allows for You tube, iTunes upload and burn to DVD,AVCHD DVD disc or Blu Ray if you have a burner.
It also has the largest zoom for a consumer camcorder 20x.
After reading all this on their websites it sounds like the camcorder to go for if you are after a Hybrid HDD/micro SDHC card camcorder.
Pros Very quick to start recording. Got it as a return in a big box store .Was missing the remote,But for under 70.00 out the door ,I won't complain.
Cons Buy extra batteries to shoot longer than an hour.
Summary Great camera if bought under the 300.00 range,I find the new portable high def cameras can take comparable video, and can be had for under 100.00..
Pros 20 x zoom is a plus works well, although you may need a tripod to really use that function unless you are very steady.
It turn on as soon as you open the side panel
Cons Hard disk takes forever to delete and you need to have a 110V power hooked up to delete anything.
Buttons on screen are hard to press, have to use the hard buttons
Summary I am on he fence on this one, low light is not great but the zoom rocks, its small and battery works well with the hard drive, get a second battery and you are set for 15 hr of recording in HD. Deleting is a problem as it takes so long , could be since i use Mac may be simpler on PC? Good quality, i take my recorders out in the bush, cold snow while sledding and quading. For the price it works well. Anyone can work it, my kids 5 and 8 years old use it all the time aim and shot. One thing they got right is the screen, you can see it even in bright daylight unlike my sony.
