  • "Horrible Quality, waste of money, awful Cust Service"
    on by speed0423

Pros None! - got less than what I paid for, and I thought I got a good deal.

Cons Grainy video, not HD quality.

Summary Bought on WOOT.COM <--1st Mistake, as their idea of cust service is to tell you to try the manufacturer.
Bought a JVC brand electronic <--2nd Mistake, they will not offer solutions on poor quality, only if it is broken.

This camcorder has horrible video, even in the highest setting. The video quality of my 3 year old digital camera had similar video quality, which was sub standard definition quality. You think HD, you think sharp, fill my TV screen with a good image. This is a piece of junk, cannot take stills, cannot take HD quality video, what good is it? I have no respect for the JVC company for stamping their name on these "Everio" <-- forgettable name, forgettable device. Save your money get something else from a different manufacturer, like SONY or CANON

  • "Don't recommend JVC camcorders."
    on by ejames91182

    Pros Decent quality. Good options.

Cons DON'T LOSE THE CD. If you do they make you pay for it all over again. And it's a pain to pull the files off the SD card and convert to a different format.

  • "JVC customer service is AWFUL!"
    on by elblis

    Pros camcorder preform fine, but.....

Cons eventually I needed customer service (see story below). JVC did nothing to help a simpe problem. No matter how good a product seems if the company won't back it go to a company that will-canon,sony.....

Summary JVC customer service awful!!I have always been a fan of thier product but when I purchased my camcorder one of the video editing disc was damaged. Simple call the company and they will send me a new one? Wrong. After sending repeated emails, proof of purchase, and long phone calls they did nothing. When I spoke with superisor he did nothing. Terrible customer service. Buy other brands. Eventually you will need to deal with customer service for something and JVC will be of no help. Paticence will not help you buying another brand will.

  • "Good For What It Is"
    on by wildcatbuff

Pros Small, Cheap, Good Video Under Good Lighting Conditions.

    Cons Feels Plasticky,Crummy I.S.,

Summary There are times that you may not want to haul a larger, more expensive camera around.Taking the kids to the beach? Want video of them playing out in the snow? Taking the grandkids to to Disneyworld? Don't want to risk damaging your expensive camera? Then these are the cameras for you. They are small and cheap, take very good video in good light and any video is better than no video! Easy to carry, there is no problem taking one of these with you.Shoot at the highest setting and you will be happy with the results. I have the HM200 and the HM300. If you shop the auction sites you can get a good deal on these. I picked up my HM300 in as new condition, but without the box for $113 including shipping and tax. At that that price it's a no brainer. Outdoors, the video quality to the HM200 is identical, even though the HM200 has a larger sensor, and feels more substantial.Indoors the video quality is slightly better on the HM300,even though it has a slightly smaller sensor than the HM200. But what I do is use my Canon HG10 indoors which takes great video under all conditions but is heavier and much more expensive. If you keep the action up-close, use it primarily outdoors and don't go zoom happy, because the I.S. really stinks, you'll be happy with this camera, especially for the price. And you won't lose any sleep because after a day at the beach with the kids you are still pouring sand out of your expensive camcorder!

  • "Good camcorder if you are willing to sacrifice."
    on by hld0003

Pros It gives good video and focusing with good light, 4 quality settings, 3 hours on a single charge, easy to use menus, good audio, small enough to fit in a pocket, dual SD card slots, time lapse and it works with upgraded Window Live Movie maker.

Cons My wish list includes manual focus, a microphone input, a headphone input, better image stabilization, better low light video quality, sharper still images, and the ability to focus in low light.

Summary The camcorder works well for me for the types of video I take. It's not a do everything well camcorder, but I am willing to make sacrifices for a decent price.
