Summary: I read all the pros and cons from a lot of people, and had the opportunity to purchase a $1,300.00 Sony, that takes four megabite stills, and after looking at my Pentax K10d DSLR with my $5,000 lens and gagets, I figured that still photos were not that important because I can take all the stills with my other camera.

So to get on with it, my $2,000 lens outfit just barely covers the 35X zoom range in this camera, and my three frames per second has nothing on the HD/DVD capture mode of this camera. I took some cursory shots around the house, and the only drawback was that miniscule LED light that is marginal at best 24 inche coverage, but for $20.00 I can get me a 40 LED work light at my local ACE Hardware for those shots under the table or dimly lit front rooms to handle the lack of light....Or, for $24.00 I can buy a 3,000,000 candle power spot light if I am feeling totally O.C.D.
It is just a cute little beginner...albeit...a very advanced beginner camera, and nobody need worry about silly nit picking videographic flaws that Obsessive Compulsive persons of professional status complain about.

For Pete's sake, it's only a Prosumer video camera....If you want more than this, then there are plenty of $30,000 Sony/Panasonic etc thirty pound 60X monsters out there that will meet your needs.

I've never had a video camera till now, and I am 59 years old, and my brother who bought a Canon video cam that used mini tapes for $900.00 waaaaay back when they were the "cat's pajamas" of palm corders, his only comment was.....WOW!

So to sum up my "I like!" diatribe....It only costs $XXX.XX, and can do birthday parties, and Aunt June's visit, but will never stop a bullet, and MGM will never own one! So if you are a diehard Mac user don't buy it! But if you feel so inclined, for $200.00 you can go buy a PC at your local PC fix-it shop.

Summary: not good for home films but ok for nature shots
