"Hard disk drives in a camcorder is great idea, Its also very light but with poor video quality."

    by thunder2814 on May 21, 2006

Pros: Light weight and massive storage capacity

Cons: Bad video quality and stills are worse.

Summary: I actually brought this camcorder without reading any reviews because there was none. I was interested in the idea of hard drives for storage instead of having to use tapes or DVD discs, it is also lightweight and compact but at the end of the day it is the video that your most interested in and this was a big let down for me. At the hightest quality setting the video was very poor and pixely, in low light conditions it is even worse and the stills are worse again. I brought this camcorder back to the shop thinking that it was a fault but they tried another one and it was the same. The shop assistant checked the camcorder out and he took some video footage and he could not believe how bad it was. I got my money back and I will buy a DVD based camcorder in a few weeks time after doing my research.

I was shocked when I saw the reviews for this camcorder, for a 800 or 900 or what ever dollar device that breaks down?! I looked at that exact camera and let me tell you how horrible the picture was. I saw it at Circuit City, they have a fraud demo with this camcorder with this lady who is dumb. After watching the demo the color was dark, grainy. I think this has to do with somthing going on with the hard drive in the camera, here are some of the issues possibly made this thing have problems

LENS IS PUTTING TO MUCH PREASSURE
    TO MUCH MOVEMENT FOR H.D.D.
LONG VIDEO RECORDING WEARS OUT H.D.D.
    OVER HEAT TEMPS 95 DEGREES

If your a person who loves editing movies, guess what, DVD ain't gona do you good because you can't edit them on a computer

The best thing would to buy the Canon ZR500, even though it's the low end on canons products, the camera progreses fantastic performance.

this guy has no clue what so ever on what he is talking about. the video is great all you have to do is edit it with cyberlink wich converts it to mpeg 2 high quality ntsc. then when on dvd it looks great. also the idiot must have forgot to turn on auto focus. however the stills are bad but your buying a camcorder not a camera. if you want good stills buy the cannon S3 IS. dont listen to this idiot.
