"Nice Consumer Level Camera"
Pros: Light weight easy to handle, video quality good
Cons: No Firewire, Recording format is muxed.
Summary: This is a good little camera. If you watched the video review, I agree with both the mushy control pad for the menus and the zoom control. The video quality is fine.
I was disappointed to find no Fire wire connection, limiting how you use the device. Seems that it is much more PC friendly then Mac. The video records muxed file, like a DVD, which combine the video and audio into one file. This doesn't allow for advanced manipulation of the recorded content.

This is a great little camera. I use a Macintosh computer, and I'm used to everything being designed for the Windows world. However, this camera was quite literally plug and play, and using the excellent (free) program MPeg Streamclip I can use clips from the camera in IMovie with ease.
I was initially afraid that a lack of spotlight on the front of the camera would result in dark, muddy video, but this thing has excellent light compensation. It probably wouldn't be a good camera to use if you were to try to shoot in the dark without an outside light source, though.
The video quality isn't quite as good as another JVC model camera I have, but it's not terrible by any means. What this camera lacks in depth it more than makes up for portability. It weighs nearly nothing, so you can carry it with you without feeling like you're hauling a ton of bricks. I bought one of the longer-lasting batteries widely available online, and have had no problems with it whatsoever. It'll go for four hours. Need more time? Buy two batteries.
It's a great little camera. I'm seriously thinking about buying an underwater housing so I can use it on scuba diving trips, as well. -
I'm going to buy this camcorder, but maybe it's a little expensive. Maybe I can buy it a month later.
I don't know why you concern it have no firewire, is USB not enough?
