"Great zoom, good price ... but YouTube may need work" on by RazorMaker

Pros: It fits my hand perfectly, file transfers are quick, SD cards are cheap and easy to find, shutter-style lens cover is better than a cap, DVDs are crystal clear (ultrafine video), good for filming family events, good stereo, fast recharging

Cons: YouTube videos are grainy, no view finder, no shoulder strap, MOD files are not seen as MPEG-2 files by video editors (you have to tell them), need newish computer with fast processor to view video clearly

Summary: I bought this camera for its optical zoom, SD storage, ergonomics, etc., and because my old tape-based camcorder is a JVC, and it's great (unfortunately, mini-DV tapes stretch). I didn't want an HD or DVD camcorder because they have moving parts, compatibility problems, use too much power, etc. I had a Toshiba Camelio S10 HD camcorder, but it was terrible: grainy, blurry images, QuickTime format that doesn't work with QuickTime, flickering white spots started appearing in videos less than two months after buying the camera, good YouTube interface, but very slow with video files and images aren't fluid, no apparent customer service support from seller, etc. The JVC is completely different and worth the expense. I'm still figuring out the YouTube functionality, but I've DVD'd a few videos and the image quality is great. Watch that flip-out screen, though, and use Ultrafine for the best results. The camera isn't set at the factory to turn off completely when you close the screen. I think you can set the camera to do this, but (I need to check) it may not turn off so that you can record with the screen closed or close the screen when the camera is connected to a computer, etc.

    "Amazing CAMCORDER" on by JaggLAX

    Pros: 2 memory card slots
    video light
    lazer touch controls

    Cons: body design

Summary: i bought this jvc everio s gz-ms120 and the sony handycam DCR-SX40 and planned to pick the better one and return the other. while the sony had far better ergonomically design and a bit more zoom. the jvc out played it with features. both are very good camcorders.

if you are using a mac the jvc claims to work with "IMOVIE '08 and IPHOTO" i however still run 10.4.11 which is one step away from leopard so i cant test tat out. in tiger i cant get it to work. but i decided to keep it any way.

""Very Nice Camcorder"" on by scarface116

Pros: Dual SD card slot capabilites
Bigger Image sensor (CCD) than most standard camcorders around that price.
    AV input.
    Great software.
    Great choice of colours.

Cons: None, great value for money if you are on a budget

Summary: Bigger image sensor than standard entry camcorders. They use 1/6" and most brands use 1/8".The bigger the image sensor the better the image quality.

Dual SD card slots. Great idea if you need the capacity and want the reliability of memory cards. It is also cost effective. For example at the moment 2 x 16GB cards are cheaper than a 32 GB SD card. When 32GB SD cards come down in price then buy both of them and get 64GB. Great idea.

AV input. The only SD card camcorder with AV input. Think about what you can do with this. Archive all your old tapes and footage into the camcorder and then digitally remaster and burn to DVD.

The software allows you to burn to DVD, Upload to You tube and I-Tunes. Great archive and playback solutions.

Nice colours and the camcorder is coated entirely not half like other brands.

I cant wait until it comes out.
