JY-HD10U is defect
Pros: For all the defects in the JY-HD10U, I stopped using JVC product because it did not have good quality.
Cons: I had used the new JY-HD10U for less than a year and it started defects
This model JY-HD-10U on 04/20/2007, I sent for a warranty repair to JVC Service 16 Chapin Rd. Suite 909/910 Pine Brook, NJ 07058
Since then this JY-HD10U worked for a few months, and then started showing the defects all over again. During recording all the same problems were occurring as were in the previous JY-HD10U models.
I gave up on trying sending the camera in for repairs because of the horrible quality product that you are selling.
For all the defects in the JY-HD10U, I stopped using JVC product because it did not have good quality. I have paid $1,799.99 for nothing good but something that you would want to give to a little child to play with. I hope that JVC would apologize not just to me but to all the people you sold this model to.

Amazing results. When used right better than sony fx1
Pros: 720P looks good+will play on home HD DVD Players, fx11080i will not! small and light, XLR, better outer shell than fx1
Cons: Only has 1 CCD, no 1080i recording
Both cameras are EXCELLENT but there are major differences.
comparing the FX1 and HD10U..
FX1 HD10U pros and cons from a shooting/editing perspective:
The FX1 has 3 CCD and provides better color reproduction than the HD10U when shooting indoors with no extra lights. When shooting outside both have excellent color reproduction. When I use a light kit with the HD10U indoors again the color reproduction is excellent. Bottom line you must use proper lighting when shooting with the jvc indoors AND you should use a light kit with the fx1 as well but you don't have to because the fx1 is better in low light.
720p vs 1080i
As far as resolution even though the fx1 technicaly has a higher resolution image than the hd10u I cannot see the difference on high end hd monitors. Bothe are excellent. When the output is for HD DVD (HD DVD players comming soon...) The jvc hd10u is a better format because all HD DVD players play 720P not 1080i so for the fx1 you will have to convert 1080i to 720p (The conversion results are not good with software, better with hardware conversion)
For those of us (like me) who want to broadcast HD you must use 1080i so you have to convert the hd10u from 720p to 1080i which looks good when I use a hardware converter. Enough for now.. hope this helps..

Great Features But a bit ahead of it's time
Pros: Great Quality picture, good sound even from its built in mic and from the way we use it. Very portable
Cons: Some of the controls are a bit hard to find at first, but with a little time we adapted to the interface. The major disapointment is that while they provide editing software for windows PC we use Apple's Final Cut Pro HD and it doesn't recognize the came
