"Excellent Camera for All Uses"
Pros: Purchased the Optura 300 about a year ago before a European vacation and after heavy research. Quality and size were major issues of concern. We've been nothing but happy with the Optura 300. It's small enough to fit in a jacket pocket, but still produces
Cons: Only concern is the placement of the microphone (just above the eye hole). It seems to pick up a lot of sounds from the person behind the camera, to the loss of the subjects. But, all things considered, it's not a reason to pass up this model.

"Last year's Gem Is This Year's Bargain!"
Pros: Compared to the Elura 20 MC, which I have had and loved for nearly 3 years (and dropped 3 times & still works fine!), the Optura 300 has several improvements: Enhanced night capability (much needed), 2.0 M pixel Stills (vs. 0.6Mpix), Ability to shoot
Cons: Only 8 MB SD card = < 8 still pictures. Buy at least a 256 for this or 1 GB if you plan to shoot movies (JPEG-4) to the card.

Pros: Albeit in Japan, service is A1, and the price great for this quality. Small, easy to use..ideal for normal users in any situation!
Cons: A little cluttered on the back of the cam, takes a bit of getting used too.

"Compact but tricky to operate"
Pros: Quality video, OK stills (for stills, I still prefer digital camera with more options/resolution). No problems when taking videos on Mini DVD tape. VERY COMPACT, EASY TO CARRY/USE,see below for warning. Takes awhile to get used to compact selector/on/
Cons: Mpegs OKAY if you want them, but be careful, too easy to bump mpeg/still flip switch on side when putting the small camcorder in/out of pocket--you end up with mpegs INSTEAD of regular high quality videos. Good idea to check selector flip switch BEFORE y
