"Great as a camera - horrible physical design & mounts."

2.5 stars  | on by crudehacksDOTcom

Pros

The video it takes is the same quality as Contour. Unlike the others it comes with a built-in LCD screen on the back, and is waterproof. I found it for $20 less than the cheapest Contour CAM which came with no mounts or LCD, and was not waterproof.

Cons

Terrible mounting system and inconvenient bulky shape, the helmet mount is a ridiculous rubber band that places the camera so far out that leverage makes it wobble and feel very heavy.
Also the menus annoying key-press bleeps can't be turned off.

Summary

The cheap, poorly designed mounts are already a deal breaker for me, but suppose you wanted to toss the included mounts and make/find your own? Unlike the Contour and other cameras, it has a difficult to mount cylindrical shape with no rails or way to fasten it to anything.... Read full review

If your circumstances are such that you need a helmet camera for something other than helmet use, but have a need for a waterproof design and want a built-in LCD, this could be a good choice. But if you're like most people and want a helmet cam for helmet use, do not even consider this one despite it's features and price.
