"Great for a Family Camera"
Pros: Compact Size, Quick start-up, built-in light, opt zoom, price
Cons: Complex menu navigation, low-light issues, connectors
Summary: Excellent camcorder value. Battery life not too bad if you take occasional shots. Because of its compact size, it can be easily carried anywhere. I like to built-in light. The previous camera I had required me to carry the light attachment.
The zoom mic, electronic image stabilization (EIS), and optical zoom are handy features of this camera. I like the Blank Search feature, which allows you to go to the end of the tape after reviewing your recordings, even if the tape has been removed from the camera.
While the battery adds about 30% to the total camera weight, the camera is still not too heavy to carry around.
However, I always see grain/noise on low-light scenes so this camera may not be a good one for taking such videos, even if the low-light feature is utilized. The digital camera can only take 640 x 480 pictures so it is not a very attractive feature. There is a feature called Magic Pix, which lets you take videos in low-light situations, but the video is very slow (like on MTV).
Overall, a nice camera in documenting childhood.
