"Great Camera, Worth The Price"
Pros: Ease of Use, Picture Quality, 3CCD, Jog Dial Function, Comfort in Hand
Cons: Optical Image Stabalization, Low Light Shutter Speed, Owners Manual
Summary: This is a great camera and although it's quite pricey I still beleive it a great value. I ordered from Amazon for $898.48 and didn't have to pay shipping or taxes. I know one can buy it cheaper at other online stores, but I just don't trust them in the event of a problem!!! I had all the operations down and working within three hours of opening the box. It's simple to use and understand (this is my first digital camcorder). The Jog dial features are Fantastic! I considered the Sony with touch screen navigation, but based on my PDA experiences over the years I'm not confident in the durability of such features. The only downsides I've noticed so far are the optical image stabilization and low light (MagicPix) funtions. Based on the reviews, my expectations of optical vs. electronic stabilization were quite high so I'm not sure if I was just expecting too much. I didn't notice much diference versus my Sony Hi8 image stabilization. The low light features are fairly useless if shooting anything that moves (as I do 99.99% of the time). However, I am very pleased with the low light capabilities in standard mode, it's much better than I expected. I have no issues at all with indoor shooting in standard mode. The only other complaint is the owner's manual has all languages in one fat manual. The bottom line is this is a great camera and great value when considering the total package. No regrets or buyer's remorse.
One more comment. Service contracts are a rip-off, scam, @#$% period! On this product it's about 20% of the purchase price and don't cover the most likely issue of accidental breakage. 100% of Circuit City's operating income and 50% of BestBuy's came from such policies (Don't beleive me, do some research on this fact, look it up at consumerreports.org and others) But hey, it helps keep the cost of my products lower so I hope suckers out there keep buying them. Retailers sell at razor thin margins and make it up on the service contracts (Does anyone actually lug their camcorder back to BestBuy to get the heads cleaned? Come on!). Over the years I would have spent thousands and have only had one product break. Self insuring is the way to go!
I did a massive amount of research and testing prior to my purchase so I'd thought I would share my experiences. I hope this helps anyone on the fence between two products.

Hi hi,
You mentioned in you posting that you did a lot of research before buying the gs250. Did you ever consider sony hc90? Thanks a lot.
