"Dont waste your time or Money" on by speedy5151
Pros: Small, Lightweight, easy to use
Cons: Over-sensitive when writing to mini DVD
Summary: This camera would be a great camera if it did what it's supposed to do. I had this camera for almost 2 months and discovered the hard way that this camera is prone to errors when writing to the disc. To what I understand, the camera has an internal RAM chip that is not user accessible. While recording video the footage is stored there temporarily until full. Once the RAM is full the camera now writes the disc. The problem is, if you bump the camera while this process is taking place or if the disc has the slightest scratch or even finger print, the display will read "Error...Please press reset". As soon as you do this all of the video footage that you just captured is LOST!!! There is no bigger bummer than loosing that perfect shot., or loosing a once in a life time event.
This might have been a defect on the camera that I got, but now the camera destroys discs that were once readable on my computer. I had some discs that were full and went back in play mode to watch them on the camera and now some of those discs don't work.
Stay away from this camera at all costs, it does more bad than good

"Should be concidered a beta test marketing giveaway." on by rerepeater
Pros: pretty junk
Cons: Buggy and unresponsive. Week Tech Support.
Summary: I'm more tech savy than most you'll ever know so believe me when I say this is riddled with problems. A decent design layout but horrable quality.
The VDR-D100 is less than entry level and should be concidered a beta test marketing giveaway. -
"You get more than what you pay for." on by buffaloing
Pros: Very easy to use. Dont even need the manual
Cons: Does not take still pictures. But thats not what a camcorder is for.
Summary: No this camera does not have alot of toys to it, but that is what makes it great. It is easy to use. Few bottons, nobs and dials to get confused with. Joystick is easy to use. It produces great pictures and seems to be good in lower light which seems to be a short coming of other camcorders. Easy to add a longer life battery to unlike the Canon line. Easy access for the fire wall and adapters. Nice LCD screen, but could be bigger. (However larger LCD camcorders suck more of the limited battery life.) Limitations: It does not have a built in light or the ability to take still pictures like the Panasonic VDR-D200. It does not offer as stable of a picture as the Sony line, but it still gives a great picture with little to no noticable shake. It does not come with the computer software program for the Still Camera or movies as does the VDR-D200. For its price range this is a great camera.
