"Can't leave the memory card in the camera." on by cwk0921

    Pros: The size if great.

Cons: Camera freezes when you turn it on with the memory card in the camera.

Summary: I bought two of these for my classroom about a month ago. You can't turn the camera on with the memory card in the camera. I have this problem with both cameras. You have to take the card out...turn the camera on and then put the card in the camera. If you try turning the camera on with the card in it, the camera freezes up.

"The HMX-U10 is an example of 'almost' engineering." on by nrbeattie

Pros: This camcorder offers awesome HD resolution video. The addition of a 10 Mp still camera is handy and images that come out clear are pretty stunning. There is a 4x zoom in lower video resolutions but not in HD. The LCD is bright and clear. The fixed lens r

Cons: Is it a phone or a camera? Samsung provides an adapter mount mount (sic) to compensate for the built-in mount which orients the camera to capture videos on their side.
The fixed lens is always exposed, there is no protective cap.
    The covers on the memo

Summary: Samsung is so close on this one. My suggestions? Orient the camera like a camera, no mount adapters. Improve the automatic light sensitivity to adjust properly. Make the camera zoom capable on the HD setting. Move the capture buttons to the side of the camera away from the menu controls. Put real hinges on the AV and memory covers. Always: removeable back-up batteries which can be charged ahead of time. Add a lens cover.

I like Samsung, I really like the video when I turn my laptop sideways; it is the best video quality I have seen on a video camera. I like the images that come out clear and when my subject doesn't move out of the frame after I press the shutter. I can make the Samsung HMX-U10 work for my purposes if I constantly remember all the finicky quirks Samsung engineered into it.
    Almost.

"Extremely easy to use and share photos and Videos." on by GOPgorilla

Pros: Easy to travel, use and share your photos and videos. What's more, the product has come down grossly more than cnet has indicated. Just shop around.

Cons: You will have to download additional (mostly free) software to convert these files into an AVI format.

Summary: I have paid over $2500.00 for Camcorders that perform as well, so who's the dummy here? With this camera I may not look as professional as I do with my regular, extremely expensive gear, but my results are pretty much as good (especially for producing Video on a Web site or when utilizing YouTube. However, this camera allows me to be far more stealthy than one sitting on my shoulder. Remember, I already have permission to do the shoot and have acquired signed forms for my use of the people and places involved.
