"loaded with features.... try to get it as cheap as possible." on by crazeeelife
Pros: Tons of features and an SD slot for pics AND movies
Cons: you can't use many of the features in SD recording mode/ not the best quality
Summary: The thing with this camcorder is that the people that are buying and writing negative reviews aren't looking at the big picture here. It has a decent hold of all worlds but the reality is that if you want high quality you have to pay for it. This is the best camcorder you will buy for under $300.00. Its quality is decent not great. Its ease of use takes qetting used to but it has quick and easy menu buttons that are helpful. Adn the SD card is a deal maker for me cuz really who wants to dealy with taking pics on a DVD. It has everything....its just a jack of all trades, master of none.

"No-Disc Error! Poor Quality, Poor Playback, Poor Color" on by masher86
Pros: Small enough to fit in your hand, the LCD is visible
Cons: Almost nothing works well or as it should
Summary: This camera runs hot, writes bad data to discs, and turned some potentially precious memories into coasters. Customer support's only response is to mail the camera to a service center. They do not help troubleshoot or offer any insight into the camera's behavior.
35% of the discs I record to will not play back, or crash mid-disc. Even when turned on, functions like wind-noise or image stabilization do not seem to work well, or at all. The battery life is ridiculously short, which is not a surprise for stock batteries, but you'd think it would be designed to get you through *ONE* side of a mini DVD disc -- but it usually doesn't, as the camera seems to hog electricity beyond its meager capabilities.
I also tried recording to the memory card as an alternate option, and took still photos using photo mode. The still photos came out dark, washed out, and blurry. Phones take better pictures these days.
The menus are a pain to navigate -- good luck even finding which cryptically-named icon equates to image stabilization vs. backlighting vs. white balance. I am no stranger to DV cameras and editing, and the logic of this thing befuddled me. Some of that might be due to the "joystick" toggle on the side of the camera that seems to control some functions, while others are left to the Menu, or Q Menu, or some other button or up/down arrow. I wouldn't be so upset about finding functions if any of them worked, or if I could find my way back again to say, quickly set the white balance or toggle from manual to auto focus. No such luck.
I tried to salvage some of my footage by using the supplied RCA cable, and hooking into my DVR recording unit. The results were a hitchy, pixellated nightmare. Its a good thing this camera is so cheap, because people will be throwing it away after a handful of uses. I don't expect a lot out of a cheap camera, but this is ridiculous. -
"I also advise to not buy this camera from samsung." on by Dodgethisdman
Pros: None!!!!! And I am not a hater it's just a FACT.
Cons: The worst camera I have ever wasted my money on.
Summary: If you want to get memories that should last forever, (dvd) of digital, stay away from this Product.
