""STOPPED WORKING AFTER SIX USES""
on by CelebrateBostonPros Ease of use.
Cons Auto-focus pixelates a lot between distant objects. MX20 CAMERA DIED AFTER SIX USES. SEE SUMMARY.
Summary I paid $250 for a Samsung SC-MX20 Camcorder in October 2008. I used it about SIX TIMES. I did not drop or mishandle it in any way, and it was hardly used. The Low Battery message flashed and the next day it didn't work at all. The camera is still in PARTS warranty, so I called Samsung. Here's the KICKER. I HAVE TO PRE-PAY LABOR COST TO REPAIR THE CAMERA, AND ALSO PAY TO SHIP IT TO SAMSUNG. WHAT A RACKET. I buy a lousy camera, hardly use it, and then have to PRE-PAY to fix it. DO NOT BUY FROM SAMSUNG. I am considering SMALL CLAIMS COURT.
Follow Up. I didn't bother to send it for warranty repair. It would have cost $82.50 + shipping and insurance. I took it apart just to see if there was a loose connection. There was debris inside the case. One of the ribbon-style connectors had tiny hairline wires sticking out of it. The manufacturing facility was contaminated. I will never buy another product made bu Samsung for as long as I live. I will make sure I find out the warranty policy next time before buying any camera. Without a drop centers, it's similar to extortion to ask for money up front when a product failed quickly. What a waste of money! Thank goodness prices are dropping quickly.
